WASHINGTON (AP) Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar, a member of the progressive Squad, eked out a closer-than-expected Democratic primary victory Tuesday against a centrist challenger who questioned the incumbents support for the defund the police movement.
The evening went far smoother for another progressive, Becca Balint, who won the Democratic House primary in Vermont positioning her to become the first woman representing the state in Congress.

"Centrist" and corporate/corrupt/same as Republicans are usual smears of perfectly progressive Democrats who just aren't populists or associated with superPACs like Justice Democrats.

Maybe this close run will help the Congresswoman act as more of a work horse than a show horse for her constituents.

(9,423 posts)In his council district that has a high crime rate. He somehow thinks that more cops in a high crime area may help to reduce crime. Silly centrist we all know that less cops in a high crime area is the key to safety.
