(13,524 posts)At least one of the three was classified after the fact, and one was about nothing more than scheduling a meeting with someone from another country. I dont remember the content of the other because the media made it appear that she was using a private server for top secret classified information when she was not.
The media did a hatchet job on Clinton and never bothered mentioning the private RNC server that Karl Rove used to hide communications for the run up to the Iraq War, thousands of emails that he and the RNC deleted and which were never recovered. They mentioned Colin Powells use of a private server a couple of times but basically buries that.
It would be poetic justice for Trump to be caught by a bill he signed into law because of his vindictiveness toward Clinton.

(22,240 posts)Even now media compares HRC's handling of 'classified ' emails to what DOJ is investigating about Trump. It's absurd.

(18,893 posts)The grand plan. Trump and trumpism was bait. He wanted to shake the bushes to see who aint welcome up there for the streets of gold and mansions. Just an easy culling process to not waste much time.

(24,316 posts)Hillary was the acting SoS, she had the highest level security clearance there is. She had every right to possess any and all classified materials. She violated rules (not the law) around handling classified documents. Trump is a private citizen, he has no more right to possess classified materials than you or I do. What he did was a felony and it's easy to prove if they removed classified materials from Mar a Lago.

(9,395 posts)Trump was the king of the actings. He put people in all sorts of places for terms as they could not get through a Republican controlled senate they were so bad. Thus the Acting title for them. Secretary Clinton was the Secretary of State.

(24,316 posts)She was handling classified information as part of her official job would have probably been a better way for me to state it.
Watch next, Republicans are going to try to normalize taking dozens of boxes of official government documents with you when you leave the White House. And I bet they'll even find some example of a previous president accidentally taking something they had to return, then they'll say, see, this is normal. They'll see Obama's people packed something trivial like a map of the White house they weren't supposed to and claim it's equivalent to Trump packing up 25 boxes of classified sensitive documents.

(115,462 posts)And that they had been classified after they had been sent to her?
But none of them were related to national security and she did not lie to the FBI about them.

(13,524 posts)Documents are classified as Confidential, Secret, and Top Secret. I believe the three Clinton emails were all just Confidential.
There is a world of difference between three confidential emails on a private server and a former president stealing box after box of top secret documents. I was gnashing my teeth this morning when a news person on CNN commented in response to the Republican claim that as president, Trump had the right to declassify all these documents so no big deal. She agreed that Trump had that right but then never bothered to clarify that even had he declassified them, they still belonged to the National Archives and he had no legal right to take them to his home!
Even when they think theyre being fair, media just leaves out parts that would clarify an issue. During this same segment, the other commenter, who was in charge of Hilarys email investigation, never bothered to explain the system of classification and that her emails were the lowest level while what Trump took was the highest level. There are sins of omission as well as sins of commission!
