NY AG may seek 'corporate death penalty' for Trump Tower -- and all his golf courses: legal expert

Former President Donald Trump may lose the "crown jewels" of the heir's corporate empire if New York Attorney General Letitia James moves to invoke New York's "corporate death penalty" against the Trump Organization, according to a new report.

On Wednesday, Trump announced he would refuse to answer questions in James' civil investigation into the company during a deposition that lasted more than five hours.

The investigation focuses on whether the Trump Organization essentially kept two sets of books. He allegedly would low-ball values to avoid taxes, while high-balling values to secure loans.

"In the coming weeks or even days, the AG is expected to file a massive, long-threatened 'enforcement action' — essentially a multi-hundred-page lawsuit against the Trumps and his Manhattan-based business," Business Insider reported Wednesday. "Fines and back taxes, however, may be the least of what Trump's facing. James has signaled she will also seek the dissolution of the business itself under New York's so-called corporate death penalty -- a law that allows the AG to seek to dissolve businesses that operate 'in a persistently fraudulent or illegal manner.'"

So much good stuff in that short article:

"In a civil case, pleading the Fifth is effectively a confession," Snell claimed.

Snell added, "It’s worth remembering that the NY AG is 2 for 2 so far in bringing Trump to justice — on Trump University and the Trump Foundation."

he brought the Trump University case against Trump. He said that the bar is much lower in a civil case, prosecutors do not have to prove intent, have to prove that Trump knew he was doing wrong. All that Tish needs is the documents, the evidence.

Prosecutors can show a video of the deposition; Mr. Trump, did you ever inflate your assets to get a loan? 5th Amendment. Mr. Trump, did you ever deflate your assets to pay taxes? 5th Amendment. Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, Trump did not answer those questions because it would incriminate him.

Justice matters.

Eventually our karma ripens and we experience the consequences of our actions.

The people threatening violence if Trump gets indicted also cannot escape the consequences of their actions. Karma is like gravity, it never stops working.

piles of salt are placed by a doorway as a protection against evil spirits, and Sumo wrestlers toss handfuls of salt as a benediction of wrestling event. But as I understand it the term "salted the earth" was used to describe what the Romans did after they razed Carthage to prevent even plants from growing there - an act of total destruction and merciless vengeance.

I think he kept three:

One for the government, in which all his assets were deprecated as much as humanly believable in order to evade taxation.

One for the banks, in which the same assets are inflated to the limits of credibility to get cheap loans.

And one for internal use with the real numbers in them, so the Trump Organization can see just how FUCKED they are.

However, what AG James is discussing, the dissolution of the Trump empire, really needs to happen. She also needs to seize a lot of his assets, like buildings, golf courses and gold-plated toilets. I'd be nice and leave him his shitbox Boeing 757 - after all, he's going to need a place to sleep and this country is too good to remand one of its former presidents to a steam grate. Even if Trump has no dignity, I do - and besides, someone who is actually homeless might need that.
