EXPEDITED SCHEDULE JUST IN from the judge:

"On or before 3:00 p.m. Eastern time on August 12, 2022, the United States shall file a certificate of conferral advising whether former President Trump opposes the Government’s motion to unseal."

Shortly after the government’s filing, U.S. Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart set a speedy pace to determine whether Trump opposes unsealing.

“The United States shall immediately serve a copy of its Motion on counsel for former President Trump,” Reinhart wrote in a paperless order. “On or before 3:00 p.m. Eastern time on August 12, 2022, the United States shall file a certificate of conferral advising whether former President Trump opposes the Government’s motion to unseal.

I doubt that was his goal, but it is one consequence of Garland's quickly executed series of statements today. Trump's circle won't have the time they usually afford themselves when using delay as a primary tactic in their pursuit of controlling the media.

Giving it a moment's thought, it's almost like using Trump's own tactics against him: bury him in headline after headline before he has a chance to prepare a statement responding to the first headline.
