They said that the DOJ will not be making any more public statements on this issue until it goes to court, if it eventually does choose this route. Also, there will be nothing coming out related to this in vestimation until well after the midterms. It seems that they have a ton of info and evidence to still go through. The DOJ already had tons of evidence to investigate from June but now that this current amount of info has been obtained it it will take a very long time to investigate in a thorough and legitimate manner.

I was hoping with something of this magnitude, so unprecedented, that it wouldn't be dangling out there for months. Maybe it won't. I can hope.

4. 39 boxes or collections of documents were on the Property Manifest Monday

That is a lot of evidence to go through.
They might be seeking DNA or fingerprints on it.

The National Archives claim goes back a year or more.
Long history to this case.
There's the CCTV they subpoenaed.
There are interviews with staff to pull together as witnesses.

Almost certainly they had some surveillance - some may be electronic and need transcripts.

With Trump, they have to make it air tight.

Lots of work for them to do.

And like they said, it won't happen before the midterms.

It will probably eventually chill Trump's campaign and raising of dough - along with invoking the fifth and NY criminal case going forward

8. 39 boxes is not a lot of evidence to go through.

These are boxes, not semi-trucks. It would take a small dedicated team about two days to do it. These are not mysterious documents. People know what they are. The DOJ and Trump lawyers have been negotiating over them for 18 months.

Fingerprints?
DNA?

They might need that to prove they didn't plant it.
They might need it to prove who handled the docs (ie someone with Russian or Saudi DNA?)
It might have to go to other areas for processing to compare to digital records to help determine the path the document took or if there are digital copies of it recovered by foreign intelligence.

There have been allegations that some of it may have been tampered with - to help disguise missing documents or get rid of incriminating documents. Some of it will need inspection for that, right? And maybe more checking for DNA or digital evidence of who did that and more investigation.

Thirdly, a single 12x12x12 file box of paper could hold 1,000-1,500 pages of two sided documents. That could take a 1/2 day to a day or more to go through first pass. It depends on what is in it and how mixed it is with various subjects.

We know they have boxes but do we know if there are any digital disks in those boxes? They don't say.

They have to organize how they would go about it. Naturally, unclassified stuff for the National Archive is a no brainer. Catalog it, get an affidavit and ship it or set it aside to be stored as evidence.

But the other material, they would have to split it up and process it through different paths starting with top level security clearance who has to do the first pass. There were 22 boxes that do not say how much classified material is in them. And then through to appropriate expertise - i.e. the nuclear experts would review the nuclear material.

Some of what they find will spawn mini investigations - who, what, when, where, how, etc outside of the documents themselves. Some of it trying to figure out what Trump was up to. Did he get in contact with anyone about it? Did he sell it already? etc. Does it or individuals show up on the CCTV tapes?

At some point, they're going to sift through this evidence and brainstorm what has gone on and why. And then verify that.

That much evidence will spawn other leads they have to chase down.

It is going to take a team months to nail all this down.
They're not trying to convict a petty thief here.
This is diligent top notch law enforcement trying to nail a former President of the US who has evaded them for decades and can throw a billion dollars of lawyers at it if needed and kick the snot out of them in the media while sending his AR-15 wackos after them.
And they need to try to determine what classified info has been compromised to assess national vulnerability.
You think that is all going to happen in a couple of days? I think that is wildly underestimating the tasks involved.

CNN analyst says the intel Trump stole are so sensitive that FBI agents will begin FINGER PRINTING each document to find out who actually touched them.

And you think they'll do that in 2 days for the 39 boxes/collections of evidence?

They would be negligent if they didn't check and use every tool available to them.

It has nothing to do with CNN. Use your head.

Those of us who have had access to classified Top Secret/SCI info know the FBI’s work doesn’t end with recovering information improperly stored.

There must also be a “damage assessment” to identify every single person who *may* have had unauthorized access.

I would alter that some "to try to identify" because there's a good chance they will fall short identifying every single person. A finger print or DNA could help lead to more people. But I highly doubt they'll find them all. But they have to use the tools they have and try.

2. How long have we waited for charges at the top relating to Jan. 6?

No other citizen in this nation could have dodged arrest as long as Trump has already. Who knows when or if they will actually come?
I admit that things look a bit more promising than last week, but until I see cuffs gleaming in the red glare from the man's hair, I am not opening the celebratory bottle.

Besides that, if Garland gets around to throwing the book at the crooked bastard, I have some crow to eat. A meal I will enjoy to the last feather.

They have a TON of evidence to sift through, AND they have to make sure it is absolutely air-tight.

Some of these charges are PER ITEM. How many items are within those 39 boxes? They're going to need to decide how many counts of each charge apply.

This is going to take a while. It needs to be done absolutely right.

She was just one person with 5 pages.

It's going to take a while.

On Edit: I misstated the date of 2016.

They sent it to the NSA at the end of May, 2017. she was arrested and charged in June, 2017. She plead guilty a year later in June, 2018.

So it took almost no time at all between the crime and charges.

However, this is a lot more docs, a lot more people involved and a lot more gray areas that will have to be figured out (probably not all of it but some of it).

And a lot more money behind him than she had.
