That is called authoritarianism and was outlawed after Nixon pulled the stunt.

The execution of the law says far more about us as a people than the accused. I understand many are eager to catapult principal and law for people they oppose, but I do not support authoritarianism for any excuse. There is a reason this country is succumbing to authoritarianism and that lies with the character of its citizens.

Trump’s conduct in the NY deposition is relevant to that case in the jurisdiction of NY state, not his federal taxes. He has many point of criminal exposure. Let him be prosecuted for those acts rather than using the levers of the federal government to single out a political foe for unrelated causes, particularly when the law specifically prohibits it. Joe Biden has far too much character to ever succumb to such demands.

The law applies to everyone, including those who would violate it in the case of their political foes.

Justice matters.

To me, if anyone pleaded the 5th in a NYS civil case when questioned on having 2 sets of books, if someone in charge at the Federal levell refuses to take a look to see if he did the same there, it would be gross negligence for the rule of law, no?

Justice matters.
