I met Rushdie at a New Yorker party back in 2006 or 2007, when I was just a lowly fact checker. He was smoking a giant joint and gave absolutely zero fucks, including about the fact that I was a nobody. He was a total delight. IS a total delight. Keep fighting, Salman. 🙏
