I had access to nuclear weapons technical publications as part of my job in the Navy.

I had to participate in a program designed to ensure the reliability of personnel with access to nuclear weapons technical data...things like psychiatric evaluations, etc. I also was assigned to a security team that protected those weapons and data in case of threat. I took it pretty seriously at the time.

This guy had TS/SCI documents in an unlocked storage room by the pool.

Individually, each of us were interviewed by the program you speak of before they would load a Mk 45.

The important part I remember the most, is the part where my crew mate (friend) I was on watch with, had instructions to unholster his .45 and shoot me down if I go touching and tampering with any electronic connections in an attempt to disable the fish.

Nuke secrecy and security back then was a BFD, as it should be now.

Before that MOS I was in the ASA for a year or so as a cryptanalyst, both required a very high security clearance, this was in the early 70’s. My parents told me that mostly all of their friends were interviewed, my friends, high school teachers almost anyone I ever came in contact with.
Personally there were classes where security measures were hammered into our brains till it was second nature. Getting in to the secure areas was a pain getting out …it was made sure we did not have anything in our possession that was anywhere near classified.

When I heard nuclear weapons documents all those security feelings came rushing back. This is a serious breach.

They interviewed every one they could find who ever knew me before I received my clearance. They took their jobs seriously, and interviewed me several times. When I finally left, they gave me a ten year travel restriction. And, I wasn't dealing with anything nuclear.

When I read the list of items removed from Mar a Lago, I was amazed. There is absolutely no justification for this misappropriation of classified documents. I admit, I am a little confused as to why the FBI told Trump to add a lock to the door after they carted away 15 boxes in the first recovery. Were there boxes left over that they saw? I read that there was an informant who told them that there were other boxes still left behind. Not quite understanding this sequence of events.

Those Repubs that are hysterically fighting to protect Trump are out of their minds. What is wrong with them?? I don't pretend to know, but I'd say that it sure looks like he was planning to sell the documents or planning to dangle them under someone's nose. Or, those are the copies of papers he has already sold. What else are we supposed to think?

Excuses we've heard: 1) but it was for my library! 2) what about Obama! 3) it wasn't a fair search! 4) they're family mementos! 5) he was scrapbooking! 6) this my home and I was the President! 7)
I declassified them! etc. etc. There is absolutely no innocent reason to have boxes and boxes of highly classified documents in a public place like Mar a Lago.

This guy is a spy and has probably compromised the national security. I am horrified over this. He's probably sold documents showing where we have all our assets. It was bad enough when he was a mob boss, but now he's a genuine grifting spy. He needs to go to jail as rapidly as Garland can put it together.

This guy hosted Saudis at a golf tournament after they gifted Kushner with 2 Billion dollars. This is on top of the other money that they have given both him and Ivanka. And then, he hosts Orban before and during CPAC. I'd be worrying about what he's doing, too. Orban is friends with Putin.

Well, they said when we finally knew the full extent of his crimes, we would be horrified. I guess we are. I don't really understand why he thought he could dump classified documents in his unlocked basement, but then again, he probably thought that we would never raid his home to get them back. What an arrogant pr*ck.

9. Went through the top secret clearance

process to work on the introduction of a new classified Navy aircraft. Never got the clearance because SecDef Cheney cancelled the program before it got off the ground. Before that happened, though, the plans were to build a SCIF in another building on our compound where the team would work. And we were only managing spare parts information, not seeing or handling them.

I recall having to go to an interview in Washington and having to list just about every facet of my very mundane life. I remember the interviewer telling me that Soviet spies might be sending little remote-controlled listening devices through the duct work to hear whatever was said.

Even on unclassified aircraft, there were classified systems like the AWG-9/APG-71 radar for the F-14's Phoenix missile system. These kind of parts were kept seperate from other parts in their own classified material locker.

12. TBH, DoD TS/SCI is *not* the worst nuke stuff he could have. DoE Q would be far worse.

I'll freely admit I never held a clearance, but in my brief stint working at a National Lab (uncleared, G-level) I did get a briefing on DoE classification levels.

A Department of Defense TS/SCI clearance allows Department of Energy access up to TSNSI, Top Secret National Security Information. NSI is pretty simple, any information that's been classified in the interests of national security. General policies and procedures, ground maintenance docs, stuff that's definitely secretive but not quite the Crown Jewels of nuke data…

What DoD clearance, no matter what level of SCI, does not permit at all, no way Jose, is access to "Restricted Data". RD is defined as "all data concerning design, manufacture or utilization of atomic weapons; the production of special nuclear material, or the use of special nuclear material in the production of energy". That's the really juicy nuke stuff - the theoretical calculations, actual warhead designs, enrichment techniques, permission to handle plutonium. For that level of access, you need a separate DoE-issued Q clearance. (Aside, that's probably why it has that weird mystique, and yes Q claims to go by that moniker because he has a "super duper 'above-TS/SCI' clearance", even though it's more a lateral move rather than Black Info.)

So while TS/SCI nuke stuff, Trident capabilities, war plans, God knows what, being found is real bad, it's not quite like TFG had the blueprints for the W88 warhead or anything (that we know of).

On a daily basis, I generated information that was always classified Top Secret with a code word appended to the classification. Getting cleared for that was quite involved, and surprised me as someone in his early 20s.

Did we take that seriously? Absolutely. The penalties for exposing that information outside of a very limited set of people were high. Besides, it was our job and we understood why what we generated had that level of classification. We took that very seriously, but that was pretty much the only thing most of us took seriously.

It wasn't just the information that was classified. Everything we did and how we did it with the technology we used was Top Secret. Was our work important? I don't know. What was done with what we generated was not part of what we knew. That was classified, too, and we weren't cleared for that.

Trump took none of that seriously. He didn't understand it, and didn't give a damn. Had I exposed the stuff I knew or worked on, I would have spent years in prison. So should Donald J. Trump.

Also had TS-SCI Clearance, but even that didn't equal a "need to know".

Despite my clearance, there were several times I was asked to leave the SKIF because I had no "access" to the stuff being discussed.

As a Security Manager who ran a SKIF, if I had even made an honest mistake with TS-SCI, TS, S, Confidential, or even NOFORN materials, I would have lost my job, and most likely been subject to Courts Martial.

There is NO justification for Donnie Dipshit having such material at a fucking golf course.
