Governor Ron DeSantis is promoting a Dont Tread on Me plate patterned over a flag that was first flown on a warship in 1775 as a battle cry for American independence, but its meaning has changed a lot since then.

TBH, I always kind of liked that flag. Too bad about who co-opted it.

(46,192 posts)Virginia has had one for around a decade. Other states with similar tags: Texas, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Montana, Missouri, Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas.

I used to have a pillow with his rattlesnake flag on my couch, but now it's hidden in a closet because I don't want any guests to assume that I'm an INSANE Trump zealot and anti-democratic fascist.

Edit: It's the ONLY surviving rattlesnake flag from the Revolutionary War, by the way -- the original that was made during that time period, I mean.

Looked it up and they have 122 different designs.
