Question about our intelligence capabilities

I’m wondering if our human and signal intelligence monitoring capabilities could have tipped us off that Trump sold or was discussing selling sensitive documents with another country.

I don’t know anything of our capabilities to monitor certain adversarial countries with informants or phone call monitoring, but wonder if that was the reason they moved in such a fast and unprecedented way.

If that were true, it could be Rosenberg time.

Is anyone familiar with our capabilities in this area and whether this is a real possibility?

1. It's likely there are witnesses.

They might be loyal to Trump now, but that could change. The FBI is unparalleled in its investigative power. Trump is a good bullshitter, but he ain't that smart.

The NSA may discover some evidence too.

He probably felt he could get away with it (assuming there is an it) and is not smart enough or technical enough to realize what a dumb move it was.

I knew somebody who used to get away with the most amazing stuff. Until he didn't.

5. Yes and he no doubt thought that selling secret docs was a perk of the job.

That he owned the docs so he could sell them if he wanted.

And more importantly he had good reason to think he was above the law because he always is above the law. Especially when in the WH, he was the king of everything. And people were alway protecting him and covering for him.

But basically for someone like Trump with a vast ego and a sociopath, the amount of money he could make while in the WH was just too tempting.

4. HUMINT assets, MAYBE

As far as SIGINT goes...the contents of telephone calls are not stored, so they'd have to be monitored as they happened.

I have a feeling that how they nailed Mango Mussolini is through document inventories. If the documents on Nuclear Wessels are missing and they've been missing since the morning Trump moved out of the White House, there's a good chance Trump has them.

I’m just fascinated by this and am starving for the next shoe to drop. We may be dealing with a centipede. There could be more than two shoes to drop, and I hate to get my hopes up like Fitzmas, Mueller Time, the impeachments, etc.

It sure does smell though. Smells like a rotting beached whale, which is kind of a metaphor for the Fat Yam.

that Ukrainian forces are getting on the battlefield indicate to him that we have human intelligence coming from the top levels in the Kremlin. I have no doubt that our intelligence capabilities and that of our allies could have picked on Trump’s effort to capitalize on the stolen documents.

You could well be right.

talking to Saudi royalty: "You should see the juicy files I pilfered---er, "took"---from my last gig! No, seriously, you should see them *wink wink nudge nudge*"

It could very easily have been that simple.
