(12,002 posts)may be in deep shit. From the USPS Postal Inspection Service website:
Mailboxes are protected by federal law and crimes against mailboxes (and the mail inside) are investigated by Postal Inspectors. Those who are convicted of destruction of federal property could spend up to three years in jail and be fined up to $250,000.
I doubt that rural sheriffs office has guts enough to tangle with Bang Bangs family. The Postal Inspectors are something else again.

(10,599 posts)It probably is deeper than that, and I get that you probably feel the same way.
It's not that they don't have enough guts. It's because they don't give a shit, and are perfectly fine with letting Bang Bang and her Klan, get away with whatever they want. Above The Fucking Law Assholes!

"I was standing next to my mailbox, but he was about to run over"
As if he came close to doing it.

(12,002 posts)Sounds like he ran over it to me.

(1,211 posts)Notice it did not say, "He just ran over my mailbox". I think the vehicle made a motion as if it were about to run it over, but thought better of it at the last second.
Some other things that point to this are, first, the quote about,
but he was about to run over
This show it is possible that it never got ran over. He likely would have, in my opinion, used different words if it had been run over.
Second,
Later he said that law enforcement should still show up because he didn't think he should get away with it.
If the mailbox had been run over, he would KNOW that he should not get away with it.
So, to me, it sounds like he meant the menacing threats that he mentioned should have consequences.
Third
Authorities decided to let everyone work it out themselves. If there had been a mailbox intentionally destroyed, that would likely have not been the case. I acknowledge that you DO think that would be the case, and you have explained your reasoning well. I agree with, as far as I remember, your reasons about that. Still, since they didn't look to press charges, it does lend some weight to this third point.
Let me add a 4th
Jaysons probably drunk. ... You could probably get him for DUI, because he just drove down here,
He says what they can get him for, but doesn't say "get him for mailbox destruction"
It is pretty clear to me now, the mailbox was not run over.

(8,090 posts)Won't be the last time QBert and her family make the news for something like this - four entitled sons, guns, booze, and lousy adult supervision *ain't* a good mix.

Two Colorado neighbors dialed 911 dispatchers to report an allegedly wild clash with the husband of Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.), according to recordings of the calls obtained by The Denver Post.
The confrontation occurred earlier this month and allegedly involved property damage and threats from Jayson Boebert, whos known to pack firearms, neighbors reported.
A woman, who was not identified by The Denver Post, told the Garfield County Sheriffs Office on Aug. 4 that one of the Boeberts four sons had been speeding in a go kart on the quiet residential street in Silt.
Hes going 50 miles an hour, and this is a residential lane, theres kids, the neighbor reported. We tried to stop him, and he just freakin cussed at us.

(25,475 posts)I know the Muckrakers are trying to take Boebert down. However I need more to this story to believe it 100%. They published a story a few weeks ago saying she was a call girl and posted a picture that turned out to be someone else (Rudy Guiliani's friend). Is there video?
