Trump might've stashed documents at Mar-a-Lago for two 'deeply damaging and troubling' reasons: biog

As speculation continues to mount over what classified documents former President Donald Trump and why he chose to remove them from the White House at the end of his tenure, Bloomberg contributor and Trump biographer Timothy L. O'Brien writes that Trump and his allies' claims of political persecution have drowned out the more pressing questions as to why the FBI conducted the raid in the first place.

-snip-

The first reason, O'Brien said, could simply be due to Trump's immature need to hold on to the exclusivity and privileged nature of the presidency he now no longer holds.

But Trump might also have "deeply damaging and troubling" reasons for retaining the material, he said.

"Unfettered greed has motivated Trump his entire life. He didn’t get into the casino business to beautify Atlantic City," O'Brien wrote. "He didn’t propose a mega-development on Manhattan’s West Side because it would have made New York more livable. He didn’t start Trump University to educate students, and he didn’t host 'The Apprentice' to tutor entrepreneurs. He didn’t originally run for president to revitalize democracy. Money, money, money."

Putin may have demanded the info to keep him from releasing the peepee tape, or whatever kompromat they have on him.

Or….he may just be so undisciplined and lazy that he didn’t even know he had it. I would say this couldn’t really be the case, but there’s an old saying - never attribute to malice anything that can be explained by incompetence.

At least some of these were TS/SCI. Those wouldn’t just be sitting around in the Oval Office desk drawers; these are documents that are so secret, they can only be examined in a special secured facility. They’re supposed to bring the documents out, you examine them, then they take them back again. If he has those, there’s no way he took them by accident or not realized their value. This had to be a conscious decision – and there are a whole bunch of people who needed to have abetted him, and who are also at risk under the Espionage Act.

him way too much credit. he's a fucking idiot with a severe case of sex on the wrong brain. he has no imagination and has never had any or needed to use any to consider consequences. life is a game of golf - just one hole after another. he wants something and that's it. if he hadn't been super rich he's gotten beaten up every time he went to a bar and never gotten out of jail for his first sexual abuse conviction cause they would not like him.

Consider that the FBI knows everything, and has ALL the goods. That this is only the beginning.

This is what I think.

I keep reading how the FBI could be so lax that it took them 2 years to figure out Top Secret Nuclear docs were missing. And doesn't it seem strange that the FBI actually was at Mar-a-Loco months ago and removed 15 boxes of "stuff" while recommending Trump put a lock on some of what they left there. I mean, there's every chance they actually saw/handled these very papers that are in today's news. And isn't it also true that there's huge rumblings about a mole, a spy, a traitor, in Trumpworld. So close to DJT that it could only be one of a handful of top confidents.

I don't know for sure That DJT stole our nation's highest security secrets to sell. Maybe he didn't, maybe he just wanted them to brag around the clubhouse. But then I think back to 1980 when I first heard the name Donald Trump, and all the fucking shit he's done that even I know about these past 50 odd years and...

Listen, one thing I am sure of is that Law Enforcement, the FBI, plays their cards close to their vests. They give out zero information. They do that to make a target squirm. They do it that way because it works. They don't show their cards till the end of the game, and sometimes not even then.

Consider that the FBI gave DJT rope enough to hang himself. Consider that the FBI knew, AND TRACKED, these documents from day 1. Consider the possibility that the spy was their man. Because I am certain that's the case. Consider that if anything untoward regarding the handling or marketing of these so secret documents were known, tracked, AND EVEN ALLOWED by the FBI. Up to a point. That's how these things are done. That's how evidence is gathered.

Consider that these charges are just the beginning. That even if there is iron clad proof of Espionage, that news will not come for months yet. That's how things happen most times.

There is one thing that I am certain of. Documents of this nature don't get lost, misplaced, accidentally taken, whatever. People knew the minute they were gone. And they are tracked. By ways I can only surmise about.

Anyway, these are things I think about.

I'm not sure the insider was their man, but am open to that possibility as it comforts me to think that the perhaps the documents have not gone out to hostile actors.

It is a freaky freaky time.

Has been ever since he ran for office. I knew when Brexit passed that T would win. I called a friend in deep red Texas and she said exactly the same thing. And nobody believed us.

I kept hoping to be proven wrong.

The think is, I actually think that the 2016 election was rigged in T's favor. And that whatever group did that for him decided not to do it again. Or the rigging system itself is so delicate that being close was good enough in 2016. But 2020 was too decisive. Or all the talking about it being rigged spooked the ones pulling the stunt and they backed off so as to not get caught.

See, conspiracy thinking shines it's light in me, a member of the left, haha!

I keep thinking it can't get crazier than this. The next day it gets crazier.

And they, MAGAts, Republicans, Trumpers, get wilder-eyed and doublin'-down. But they're just ham-fisted numbnuts. The most inept gang of crooks, pimps, liars, and thieves.

These are not smart people. This is no slick con. It's just total madness. And then they'll double-down on the madness.

For years, decades, I never could figure out WHY that old Chinese saying was a curse.

May you live in interesting times.

I was under the impression that interesting times would always be a good thing.

I know why that's considered a curse now.

I lived in Arizona for six years in the ‘90’s, and this - what we are going through- was completely predictable.

Once they let those Bundy’s get away with what they got away with in both Nevada and Oregon, it was clear that these nuts have far more control and sway than the sane population realizes.

This crazy kind of thinking is utterly normal in the rural areas I have worked and lived in my adult life.

But, I actually think that now that the majority of people are finally seeing what those of us (blue in red rural areas) have been experiencing, that the issue might be faced. It must, or the Union is lost.

If he wanted to sell the docs, the deal would have gone down and the docs would have been handed over to the buyer long before the raid.

After J-6 backfired, he probably just ordered his minions to box up everything in his desk, including everything he pilfered from various secret meetings, and sent it all to Maga-Lardo.
