I toldja a few days ago about Pennsylvania and its inhabitants.
When outsiders visit here they have no real understanding of the nature of our traditionally associated foods such as soft pretzels, Tastykakes, cheesesteaks, the whole gamut of Amish foods, and several others. So when Dr Odd came here and talked about vegetables for crudités, he lost virtually everyone who eats lettuce and tomatoes in the Commonwealth. Also he got the name of the store wrong. What they need to do is brief these candidates -recall John Kerry asking for Swiss cheese on his cheesesteak. I recall wincing paroxysmally.
I bet Ozzy dropped another two points because the National Rethuglican party saw this and pulled his ads.

(39,702 posts)Here's a handy chart: https://ascii.cl/htmlcodes.htm
If you preview, it will be converted and then the resulting character will be removed before it posts. This happens only with the "title" line so far as I can tell. (Certain characters, such as "@", break URLs within the message text. These can be fixed with the same method, but suffer from the same trouble if previewed).

Crudites gave me pause for a moment I thought maybe the snake-oil salesman had been rude by becoming crude, then spotted the word was not crudities after all.

(129,730 posts)wherever they go, but most candidates for senator are at least already familiar with the minutiae of the state they are running to be the senator from because they live there. Our Senator Klobuchar even has a Minnesota accent.

(82,849 posts)He said, making himself a totally non-viable national candidate. But really, who cares if you have ketchup on a hot dog? You're not making them eat it. Swiss cheese on a cheesesteak? Same thing. I'm eating it, I'll dress it how I please because it helps me mind my own business.

(9,148 posts)the store's real name is "Wegmans" -- not "Wegner's," which was was the incorrect name Oz used.
But the fact that they made that account is brilliant!

(12,443 posts)I recall seeing this ad or a version of same earlier this summer. It was during Oz's 'everyman' schtick trying to outdo Fetterman's blue-collar working guy approach. Fetterman's populist, every-guy persona just drives the Oz campaign crazy. They've tried to deflate it with no success.
The ad, therefore, failed/fails spectacularly.
Btw PC Intern, I don't know whether you saw it but the Philadelphia Inquirer had an OP on the parochial nature of Pennsylvania, the way the PA electorate does not take kindly to outsiders, particularly NJ residents. It was very like your own OP from last week.
So either great minds think alike or Julia Terruso is dipping into DU offerings.

(16,241 posts)I watched it several times. He called the store Wegner's. Mashing up Wegman's and Redner's. He proceeded to pick up a crown of broccoli (which is more expensive) @ 2$ a lb. but he only picked up 1 crown which is less than 1 lb. without weighing it. He moved onto asparagus, which is expensive anyhow, but not as expensive as he claimed (4.49 a lb. It is actually 2.99 a lb @ wegmans
All that aside who eats raw asparagus? Then complained about the cost of a yuge 5 lb bag of carrots, claimed it was a pound for 4.99
But that isn't the worst part. For dips on his selection, he chose organic salsa and guacamole. because who doesn't dip their raw asparagus into salsa or their broccoli in salsa?
He was getting 100% ratioed on twitter.
