The threats are the latest outpouring of ant-Western bile broadcast from state TV in Moscow as Russias invasion of Ukraine continues to falter.
Senior MP Oleg Morozov claimed that Boris Johnson was plotting with Kyiv to explode Putins vanity project bridge which links the annexed Crimea to the Russian mainland.
Last week Ukrainian special forces destroyed an airbase in Crimea which sent shockwaves rippling through Putins top brass as many of them began to fear more retaliatory strikes from their neighbours.

That would trigger Article 5 of the NATO charter, not something Putin wants, but hey, good luck with that.

(46,504 posts)So Putin is going to protect himself as much as possible.
He is said to be the world's richest man, so he can afford a lot of security.
For example, he may not even be in Moscow right now.
But some secret undisclosed location.

(46,504 posts)I am certain he has underground tunnels at the Kremlin or his private residences.
But these might not be safe.
I assume Ukrainian agents may be trying to track Putin in Moscow.
And as you point out, his generals and advisors might not be happy with him.
The Russian people may not like Putin right now either.
Putin is rich enough to have secret safe havens all over the world.
Maybe he is rotating among them.
And he is rich enough to have the world's best doctors following him wherever he goes.
During WWII, Churchill and FDR made secret trips outside of London or Wash DC.
It was classified, due to wartime conditions of course.

It was the little told story of Soviet naval officer Vasili Arkhipov, the Brigade Chief of Staff on submarine B-59, who refused to fire a nuclear missile and saved the world from World War III and nuclear disaster.

Vladimir Putin is reckless in his threats as he is ruthless in dealing with his inner circle of adversaries. But stupid he is not.
I also could be wrong here.

(46,504 posts)Nightly bomb raids for years, death and destruction, and the Brits got up and went to work each day literally stepping over the rubble.
And the rest of Europe learned the hard way that appeasement doesn't work.

(101,271 posts)If the UK is discussing a Crimean bridge attack with Ukraine, why dont we discuss using Kalibr missiles to attack Tower Bridge in return?
Propagandist TV anchor Yevgeny Popov, also an MP, agreed with his guest and colleague, adding that for a complete analogy it should involve Russia seeking help from a third country to knock out Tower Bridge.
Just twaddle. Tower Bridge is not 'strategic' in any sense; it may be the easternmost bridge in central London, but there are multiple bridges just upstream from it, and tunnels downstream. And the military doesn't give a toss about driving through central London. But since it's the only British bridge he's seen on film, it's what he names. Russian TV seems to be filled with arseholes talking bollocks to keep the gullible Putin supporters onside. Rather like Fox, Newsmax and so on.
