(11,767 posts)That is certainly true. Their whole philosophy is about maintaining the status quo and power structures they feel are the "natural order" They certainly want a police force to impose some kind of "order" on society, but they are certainly not the party for actual law in society as they believe that they are above the law and that laws only apply to the "lesser" people.

(1,654 posts)He's stamping his feet saying, "Yes, we can still call ourselves the party of law and order" - of course it's a lie so don't get caught harassing cops or agents, don't let yourself be identified threatening them. In the meantime, the rank and file personnel was proud of the AG for standing up there and taking responsibility for the decision to send them to Mara-Slimo.

(179 posts)Anybody can string together 10 words that dont make sense or arent true.
The 10 words The Republican Party is the party of law and order has as much sense and much less truth than the 10 words The quick brown Fox jumped over the lazy dogs back.
Any statement made by them might as well just be blah blah blah
. Makes as much sense.

(8,103 posts)"We can hold the attorney general accountable for the decision that he made..."
The decision he made was to keep tRump from potentially selling the nation's classified secrets to the highest bidder. The fact that it was a former pRes who stole them is irrelevant. The FBI did their job.
What is wrong with these people?? If Pence wants to ignore the fact that Trump wanted to watch him hung from a gallows, and that he was too afraid to get into the car with the SS, that's his decision, but it is the worst kind of hypocrisy to imply that Garland wasn't protecting the nation's interests when he authorized the FBI to enter a non secured location to retrieve classified docs.
He feeds into Donald's "I am a victim" scenario, issued to wiggle out of prosecution under the Espionage Act; he isn't smart enough to be President. He sticks with the Repubs while trying to appear to be on their side, and hedge his speech with "now, we can do this, but we shouldn't do this other thing." He's a cheap politician who will never be President (hopefully.)
I'll never forget his adoring looks at Donald while sitting behind him on stages.

(15,584 posts)is probably not a bad thing to be coming from someone with R behind his name. Can we wish that he was more full throated, and slightly less 'nuanced', in defense of "law and order?" Sure. But I'll point out that we're not getting even this much out of the vast majority on that side of the aisle. So ...

I would have to reflect on the unique role that I was serving as vice president, Pence continued. It would be unprecedented in history for the vice president to be summoned to testify on Capitol Hill. But, as I said, I dont want to prejudge ever any formal invitation rendered to us.
The American people have a right to know what happened, Pence said.

We are pleased to announce that Boris Badenov, Tony Montana, Michael Mancuso, Eddie Nash and whoever is the number-two man at Al Qaeda this week have been appointed as the board of directors for the RNC. These fine gentlemen have proven their true Republican values and will be a credit to the organization.
