(2,494 posts)At the end of the day they have the Supreme Court for years and Roe overturned so they really dont care. But they were cruising to a blowout victory and now its getting more interesting. They probably still will take the house, but with all these wackos nominated for Senate they have made it much more difficult for themselves.

(22,489 posts)Especially if Democrats hold onto the House AND flip enough Senate seats to widen our majority there. I think Kevin and Mitch will both be like
if that happens!
Justice matters.

(71,531 posts)this will be the third time. Roe changes everything. Most people understand that only Democrats can stop Republicans from destroying a woman's right to choose, ending Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid...also ending Veterans benefits.

In those days we had better majorities in Congress but Kennedy still lost seats in the House and gained two in the Senate. but as you can see only Roosevelt and Bush gained seats in both branches of Congress. Bill Clinton did in 98 after impeachment-actually gaining in the House and the Senate stayed the same, but that was the second midterm. I was talking about the first Midterms. I found a chart...pretty interesting

(7,654 posts)but moving closer to less likely with every news cycle, which is a far cry from the damn near guaranteed of only a few months ago.
If the trend continues, I think we have a shot. We are definitely still the underdogs for the House though.
I think we are favorites for the Senate.

(40,915 posts)Individual repubs will say they've seen the light and claim they will support some abortion rights but it will be a lie.
