"Crudités for Luddités"?
Also, Cengiz is "Genghis", and Mehmet is "Muhammad".
Cengiz:
1. (isim) Genghis Khan
2. genghis
-Kublai Khan is the grandson of Genghis Khan. - Kubilay Han Cengiz Han'ın torunudur.

Mehmet/Mehmed:

Mehmed II (r. 1444-46 and 1451-81) was one of the most illustrious of the long line of Ottoman sultans. His name is the Turkish form of Muhammad, but he is often known by his epithet "the Conqueror" because of his capture of Constantinople from the Byzantines in 1453.

The tomb of Sultan Mehmet Fatih:

2. Mehmet (also spelled as Memet, Mehmed, or Memed) is the most common Turkish male name. It is the Turkish interpretation of Arabic 'Muhammad' in memory of the prophet Muhammad (pbuh). The word is also commonly used for unranked soldiers in Turkish culture

Well, the reply title cannot display the French accent aigu and truncates the text if an é appears.
C'est dommage, mais c'est la vie!

(19,199 posts)I've eaten more than my fair share of veggies, but you can take your coastal elite crudites and stick them where the sun don't shine. 😤

--Dr. Oz's likely reply to your post
[Obviously, I'm just kidding around here. Dr. Oz is terrible at hiding his "refined sense of taste" and is equally terrible at mounting a campaign for political office. However, one might say that he has comically broadened the definition of the phrase "to mount a campaign".]

(23,313 posts)He was handling veggies in a produce section a small bunch of broccoli, a bunch of asparagus and a 50 lb bag of carrots (slight exaggeration) and then topped it off with guacamole and salsa he made mention of tequila too but it was all such nonsense.
LisaM
(27,806 posts)He picks up this measly little head of broccoli and balances it off with enough carrots to feed livestock. I bet his wife doesn't send him to the store much
MontanaMama
(23,313 posts)and then said it was a "ton of broccoli". Ummm it was probably enough for two servings. Just another example of how out of touch he is with reality. He didn't even get the name of the grocery store correctly. Twitter bbq'd him on that.

(27,806 posts)How does he know how much that cost?

(86,579 posts)Geeze, I eat twice that much *steamed* all by myself in one sitting. It's good that he's such a blunder. It's looking pretty blue over there in PA these days.

(7,809 posts)I learned a new word and how to pronounce it. At first I read it as "crud - ites." Now I know it's "crew-dee-tay."
I'm still going to say "veggie tray."

US Senate candidate, PA
In PA, we call this a Veggie Tray.
If this looks like anything other than a Veggie Tray to you, then I am probably NOT your candidate lol
Get in on the joke with me - Will you make a campaign contribution of ANY amount before the end of the night?

(30,736 posts)We call them veggie trays here, too.
I used to garden more when I had kids at home. We prided ourselves on growing most of the things that appeared on the veggie trays we served at our own table.

(90,673 posts)I learned the word crudités when I was 13 y.o. from a friend of the family who spoke 3 languages. Nothing elitist about the conversation at all; I just added a new word to my vocabulary, and we got the raw vegetables peeled and sliced.
Theres such a thing as the way we speak conversationally, like, Can you bring a veggie tray to the party? I wouldnt walk into a grocery store and ask where they keep the crudité selections.
Mehmet (can I call you Mehmet? Dr Oz seems so formal) is not thinking like a normal grocery shopper. He sounds silly because he has no idea what hes talking about.

(19,852 posts)He didnt have a small hand basket, he didnt put the broccoli and asparagus in bags for checking out at the counter. 😳😳😳
