The other day I posited in a post that there were numerous individuals who know a lot more about the workings and movements within this group of scandals surrounding TFG and his minions and family
that rumors/facts are out there and just not reported
yet. Yet being the operative word.
Have you noticed in recent days, the whole tenor of the RW has palpably changed AND, importantly, (dramatic pause) certain individuals from whom we have not heard much recently, such as a certain former CIA Director, have made statements which would have been almost inconceivable some time ago?
I think theres a huge story breaking soon. It is possible that it is either an indictment of TFG or a document or series of evidentiary disclosures which is going to be a maelstrom of bulletins and special reports. It will be unceasing and I think the news divisions are gearing up for this. However, after nearly two years of talking about a Red Wave, they cant just reverse course, because it would make them look even dopier than they already do, so theyre beginning to titer their coverage to maybe the Democrats have a chance to hold onto the Senate. Well, I can count and right now there are three to five Republican seats in DiRE straits, and Im being generous.
These RWers had a plan: pack the Supreme Court, get Trump re-elected and hold the Senate, overthrow Democracy on the State level in a majority of states, and assume power indefinitely. But like Kronsteen in From Russia With Love who was stymied by an unpredictable James Bond, they did not expect to have a wrench thrown into the gears and that wrench was an amalgam of the Dobbs decision, the loss of both Senate seats in Georgia, and the tape, again in Georgia, of Trump attempting to cheat the electorate. The domino effect has been enormous and the cascade of information has begun. I fully expect in the next few days to hear some jaw dropping news.

"Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity " -- Yeats

(6,880 posts)I'd say that Yeats had more in comon with Berlioz than with Shakespeare. Also that his description is far more accurate in our day than it was even in his.But yes, it is an excellent literary description And it's looking more and more accurate every day. Especially the last two lines.

✌🏻
Wicked Blue
(5,834 posts)but the Friday news dumps were tfg's way to semi-hide controversial issues.
This news is not something that the Biden administration or Democrats in Congress want to conceal. They will want maximum coverage.
I'm thinking at next week, when a lot of people are back home from vacations and kids are starting school.

There is not the usual noise from Trump supporters in the House and Senate. They must have decided to wait and see what is really going on? They know what Trump is capable of doing and treason is on the list. Don't want to get too close to traitors.

(1,156 posts)This was in fact the culmination of the 'vast right wing conspiracy' getting oh so close to completing the road to one party rule. Ms. Clinton spoke truth to power and got vilified for it, but she has proven to be so right on point about the rethuglican party and their backoffice power brokers.
Truly a scary thing to behold, but with the most incompetent and destructive narcissist holding the reins to the White House, the dominoes would eventually fall. This monster kills everything he touches.

(304 posts)a long game, all right, one that goes back much further than Trump. Most people forget that right-wingers started buying up the major media outlets in the 1980s, and Roger Ailes came up with his plan for what would become Fox "News" when advising Richard Nixon. Using massive right-wing money to "catapult the propaganda" on Fox is what got us hordes of Maga hatters.

(32,639 posts)Clearly "they" had a plan, and Chump was only one cog in that plan.
He wasn't a very smart cog either because he told the Georgia Repukes to stay home and not vote in the Senate runoff election of 2020. What an idiot, but thank God he's really THAT stupid.
Chump's huge mistake re: Georgia is what made it possible for the Dems to take control of the Senate. And now we're finally getting somewhere with these vile, treasonous weasels and their evil plan. I hope they all go down.

(111,267 posts)so I'm not counting my scandals until/unless they actually break and I'm certainly not expecting TFG to fly in a tailor from Milan to design an orange jumpsuit that fits him like a glove. Not yet. 4 years from now, maybe. He's going to keep playing the delay game, running out the clock until he finally kicks the bucket.
We all have a pretty good idea what's under many of the rocks they turn over and we all have a very good idea about how deep Russia has infiltrated the Republican Party. Whether or not those things result in jail time for any major players constitutes a big "if."
For the time being, I'm just going to lay in more popcorn and wait for it all to play out.
At least some of the self identified conservatives out there are realizing what they've done to themselves, they only thought it would be done to us.

(22,129 posts)I think that djt tried to sell off some of the secrets that he squirreled away at MAL, to monetize on at least something from his presidency. This is something that he would do, this is something that wouldn't surprise a lot of us, but still, to have an Ex-president sell off the highest secrets in the land? I suspect that this came to light when perhaps some of our overseas personnel/etc. got wind of certain documents available for sale by their overseas contacts. This would not surprise me as djt is notorious for not reading, not studying/not fully understanding the width and scope of the US Government, both here and overseas, how far our reach goes.
Traitor of the highest sort. He (djt) really is a moron and thought he could get away w/ it. Thank God we have top notch people in the DOJ and other depts watching out, keeping an eye on things.
I just hope that our Country has not been permanently harmed by his ignorant actions. Perhaps this will be the final blow that will bring the republicans down to earth and into the land of reality, away from trump land.

(2,351 posts)So, DOJ just doesn't leak right? I think this was a purposeful leak by them. They're the only ones who knew what was in the affidavit.
Why, IDK. I suppose to head off Trump's crying about how persecuted he is, from getting a lot of traction.
There will be people in positions of power who will find out a lot more about what secrets and how far Trump got now that they know what to look for. Several may have even been complicit or looked the other way.
"nihilistic, dangerous and contemptible". Referring to the republican party, not just Trump.

(100,079 posts)And they don't just want to defeat us in an election. They want us dead. Shit they're using the classic Nazi technique of demonizing their opponents and referring to us as "rats". You can see it on Fux News every night. The hysteria among the right is that strong, and the propaganda is getting worse. The propaganda is the problem here and it's not going away. If we want to advance this country, we have to address the damage that right, far right, and ultra far right propaganda has done to this country. We can't ban it because that would be policing speech (and I'm not touching that subject with a 100 foot pole), but we can address what the underlying problem is.
