The real reason Pence keeps pushing to testify is for one reason only. It's to praise trump on national TV. He knows his only political chance is for trump to take him back as VP. Of course, that'll never happen, but he's dead in the water on anything else politically.
Mark my words. If he testifies, it'll be nothing but trump ball licking.

(7,627 posts)Obviously the committee would interview him beforehand and tape it. I doubt they would want to get him to testify live.

We shall see.

They will never forgive him for certifying the EC count, never.

(1,823 posts)This is about getting a few pot shots in on Trump in a smarmy, sanctimonious, try to look as non-aggressive as possible, kind of way while getting free airtime for his campaign message and getting extra points from the GOP money-managers.

(12,361 posts)Be honest, you found this on the Onion or the Borowitz Report, because you can't be serious about this, right?
Well played.

If he wanted to testify, he would have testified by now. Any public comments about him being open to testifying is just him trying to pretend to be one of the responsible ones as opposed to one of the ones that are outright trying to overturn our democracy and all of its constitutional norms.
Spoiler alert: he won't testify.

(7,627 posts)In an interview he kept repeating that if he was asked to testify in front of January 6th commitee he would not reject it outright bit instead give it fmdue consideration.
What was odd is that he brought it up several times by himself as if he was hoping he would be asked. Being asked would give him some kind of cover.
Many interpreted this interview as an attempt by Pence to get in front of the commitee and use it to take pot shots at Trump while still trying to give the appearance to the magats that he has no choice but to comply after being summoned.
Remember, it's likely Pence is running in 2024

(7,859 posts)And yet he still hasn't testified.
I don't know why people on the left insist on giving Republicans the benefit of the doubt when they have shown, time and time again, that they absolutely do not deserve it.

(38,548 posts)He'll lick some boots for sure, but I think it's possible he knows TFG may very well be DONE no matter what.
In that case, he wants to be on the ballot.
