I thought my friend Donna was a wee bit paranoid. She phoned me Thursday before last to tell me to be extra cautious as my name had been mentioned by the election-denier, grifter, attorney David Clements during a county commission meeting, packed full with right-wing supporters of Clements and Cowboys for Trump, Jan 6 criminal Couy Griffin. Clements complained bitterly that I had filed an official complaint against him with the New Mexico Supreme Court and my complaint had initiated an investigation.

Then over last weekend, he complained about me again in a Facebook post. I got a few more calls and folks tell me that they think our county is where the next civil war begins or next mass shooting.

Then he posted a video. He says in the video that he has over 100,000 followers and whines that my complaint is taking food from his children’s mouths.

Clements friend, Couy Griffin uses tactics of normalizing violence with his speeches he made when he joined Women for America First on the bus tour across the country. He urged Trump supporters to rally at the Capitol on Jan. 6, saying there should be martial law and we are a nation at war. He continued to speak favorably of the riot in the days after the attack in videos he posted on social media.

Witness at Couy’s 14th Amendment trial to remove him from office last week, Rachel Kleinfeld said during his trial that Griffin in those public statements consistently used tactics that can incite people to become violent.
Clements and his telegram followers use these same tactics during their recruitment meetings on his social media that normalize violence, by saying things like using terms like firing squads as seen in this telgram shot from his channel.



Remember, this is the county where our commissioner’s “The only good Democrat is a dead Democrat” video got retweeted by the former President. Same commissioner who has been banned by the Mescalero Apache reservation. Same commission district that my friend Stephanie DuBois is running for. They just want to incite violence and mob rule in order to control America for their profit. They want to make those who don't agree with their political/religious idiocy suffer and live in constant fear. The states are way too intertwined with finances and econonmies to pull away. This is the very definition of terrorism. Stochastic Terrorism: the public demonization of a person or group resulting in the incitement of a violent act, which is statistically probable but whose specifics cannot be predicted.

I don't think our justice system understands Stochastic Terrorism and allows it to flourish.

(You may already be doing this; they may have told you not to talk about that, so excuse me if I'm covering ground you've already gone over.)

Collect all the evidence you can. The screen shots from social media, the communications from friends detailing where and how they have heard your name mentioned with potentially menacing intent, etc.

Package this evidence with a cover that explains how/why you feel particularly vulnerable, without too many details.

Then, first communicate with 1) Grisham's office; 2) Tim Johnson's (State Police) office, and 3) Jason Bowie's (Dept. of Public Safety) office. Let each of them know you are sharing the same information with all three of them, and that you want comment or information from them on how they will respond to this, before you put together a package for the media. (If you already have a media contact or two you can mention, that might be helpful.)

Also communicate with the staff of whichever of our two Senators you have the best relationship with, explain that you feel threatened and why, and you'd like to know which Federal law enforcement agency you should be communicating with and how, and can they help put you in touch with them? Share the information referenced above if it seems useful.

Do NOT blow this off, duhneece. This is serious shit. Your life may indeed be in danger, possibly imminent danger - but ALSO, this is part of a normalization of violent rhetoric and behavior that has serious and wide-ranging consequences for politics throughout our state as well as nationally. Shine the light on them. Especially if you get blown off.

It's important that bullies like this have the light shone upon them by people of courage.

For every one who has the courage and the friends giving them support, there may be another, maybe several others, who are truly alone and immobilized by the bullying.

Several retired judges around there, without respect to party, know the difference between right and wrong. Check around. Consider contacting the ACLU, the Southern Poverty Law Center or a similar organization for legal representation. Gerry Spence or another plaintiffs’ attorney, might work, too. This is actionable.

I was targeted in 2010 because my organization was dissed on Glenn Beck's Fox TV and radio shows, on his infamous blackboard. I only learned about it when I started getting threats via email and messaging through all social media accounts, and then it progressed to phone calls and more. It didn't help that I have a neighbor who is one of them, so I was doxxed.

This is when they were called the Alt-Right. I called them Nazis back then because that's what they are, and that's been proven true over the last 12 years. Once my child and grandchild moved in here, at my child's request, I couldn't risk harm to them so I have kept a very low profile. It's infuriating and miserable.
