Michael Cohen speculates that Trump was going to use documents as a "get-out-of-jail free" card...

If he was ever arrested for any felonies.

He was going to extort the US Government.

He would threaten to release the documents to Russia, Iran, or whomever, if he was ever arrested.

Cohen said he would carry it out because he "doesn't care about this country."

"The second they would put him in handcuffs, he would turn around and say I have the documentation showing, for example, where our nuclear launch pads are," Cohen told CNN. "This is what I believe: He would use it and say, if you proceed with this, I'm telling you right now there are 20 of my loyal supporters, you don't know who they are, but we will release that information to Russia, to Iran, to whoever it might be."

There's no telling what he told Putin during the private meetings they had. He was probably trying to negotiate the Moscow Trump Tower he had started working on years ago.

Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.

I see no requirement that the nation is at war. I think Russia, China, et.al. qualify as enemies. And if I'm not mistake Lawrence Tribe also said Trump may be guilty of treason.

Not that I have an inside track but using the documents as leverage, extortion is the way Trump rolls. He'd do anything to save his ass from jail time. I'm sure he'd consider it a 'perfect' solution, the best solution anyone has ever had.

Sell out the country's national security? No biggie.

Nice country you have there. Be a shame if anything happened to it, yada, yada.

There is no bottom for Trump.

If what MC speculates is accurate then others have seen or actually have copies of our top secrets.

There is NO question at least in my mind that traitor trump has copies, maybe taken during his term of very important top secret intel. It's stashed in places other than MAL.

His first thought on using this intel is for $. No question about that. I believe he's already traded our intel to the Saudis or some other ME source who fronted for MBS.

America can only do damage control now.
