Per Wiki: The novel was banned in 1929 in Italy and Yugoslavia, supposedly because of (Jack) London's openly socialist views. In 1933 it was burned by the Nazi Party for similar reasons.

He also wrote A Thousand Splendid Suns.

There is so much of American culture wrapped up in those books. How is anybody who goes to Florida high school expected to understand any literary references by anybody at this point
