(44,738 posts)If a person with access to top secret military information commits a crime and some how takes that material home, that person can expect a visit from the fbi, just like trump. Except that person wont get the benefit of months of doj handwringing.
However I would not recommend a MAGA shoot someone in broad daylight on 5th avenue. Not for their sake but for the potential victim.

(7,408 posts)The odds they will end up as an old fat white guy who becomes president might be infinitely small
but still higher than them ending up as a young hard working black woman.

Replying to
@GeorgeTakei
Can you please provide proof of his theft? Please and thank you. I'd prefer if
@GeorgeTakei
linked his source. Thank you. Pretty dangerous foe a blue checkmark to not be linking valid proof, right? Accusations are dangerous.
I guess our friend Patrick, here, wasn't paying attention to all that coverage focused on the classified documents trump took out of the White House that the feds finally had to get a search warrant to reclaim.
Dude, don't like the phrase "...former president who stole top secret documents..." ? What would you call it when somebody decides it's his and takes it - without asking, without consulting anybody, without even issuing some lame-ass declaration on fancy stationery? And it winds up in boxes down in the bowels of Mar-a-Lago? Kinda sounds like an act of stealing was committed - at least to me. It wasn't his. He took it anyway. What would YOU call it? Oh, that's right. I'm guessing you don't think it was stolen.
UM ... begging your forgiveness cuz there's something I feel compelled to say:
Every now and then, some of the stuff I post is actually an exercise in test-driving arguments I may be called upon to make, if I run into some contrarian. OR, there's what happens frequently: if I'm asked about it by somebody in my Indivisible group who may think I might have some contribution to make because they know I tend to stay informed. I just realized that this is something I do, here. It's practice. It's exercise. And it's extremely valuable to have such a group to run things by, or to propose an idea or thought or observation and wants to put it up for discussion. I've found that one learns so much that way!
You guys turn my questions into answers. Just wanted you to know I appreciate it!

(31 posts)The police did not just break into her home on a whim, guns a-blazing. I'm not here to defend how the police obtained the warrant, but at the time the warrant was deemed legal and the police moved in and served it. The police did not fire their guns until they were fired upon and an officer was struck by a bullet fired blindly through a wall by Ms. Taylor's boyfriend as she stood next to him. I do not care if you think you are being robbed, you are not legally justified to shoot someone in your home who poses no immediate threat to you. Ms. Taylor was an innocent bystander whose boyfriend let her pay for his crime. Police returned fire. Had Ms. Taylor's boyfriend not shot an officer doing their job, NONE of this would have occurred! I am not trying to defend the officers who may or may not have obtained the warrant illegally. I am just saying that we need to stick to the facts and the truth or else we are no better than the other side. The truth doesn't take away from the tragedy of her death.

(36 posts)You are blaming the victims of Police violence. What happened to stand your ground? Does that only apply to white gun owners? Some of the grand jury has said that the Republican (Black) Attorney General did not allow them to consider murder charges. He tanked the grand jury. And now the DOJ is charging the azzhole who prepared the warrant for lying and covering up their crimes. Again it was ano knock warrant, the police didn't identify themselves and the boyfriend was defending his home. But I guess that only applies to white people. Also he wasn't charged for shooting the officer. I guess the DA decided he was not guilty. And Breonna is still dead.

(2,136 posts)And it is never easy to refute a popular narrative.
It is worth noting the Mr. Takei's tweet made an important observation and that he, himself, did not misstate the facts of the narrative.
His take away message remains valid.
