(7,430 posts)Anyone in LE remotely acquainted with Donnie's behavior patterns would logically surveil all of Donnie's movements for criminal activity. He's a consummate criminal who shouldn't be trusted with the keys to the bathroom. Always assume the worst. He's already digitized everything that can be photographed, scanned, and copied-- everything that can bring in money and influence. THERE IS NO BOTTOM.

When hed first taken the White House, there was a video clip of him rather full of himself and still flushed with recent victory, telling some people Im the President! I can do whatever I want!
Ive never forgotten that. Sometimes he tips his hand. Especially when he thinks he already owns not just the table but everybody seated at it, AND the casino that tables in.
Youve heard the term confidence man. Well hes the COCKY confidence man.

(46,880 posts)Trump has a long time history of criminal activity, including trying to overthrow the US government.
He is obsessed with money and has committed many crimes related to that obsession.
He had access to documents and in fact was caught with classified material in his home.
He was installed into office by an American enemy, Putin.
The list goes on and on.

But really, her "insightful" comment is not so insightful. ANYONE who's been paying attention would cozy up to the same conclusions.

While you're at it, could you point out the clause in the Constitution that says if you have a lot of followers on social media you can violate the Constitution at will?
Thanks in advance!

(11,292 posts)the 'document dump' at Mara-Lago (upon which we're basing the information we do have) - shows no sign of organized, systematic planning or intent (as would be suggested in the OP). If this was a well planned and methodical heist with purpose - then Mara-Lago was an incredibly incompetent and bumbling finale.

(16,903 posts)Wasnt Trump obliged in the end to move quickly?
stopdiggin
(11,292 posts)bundling (basically just 'dumping') box after box of 'stuff' in the basement - and then letting it sit there for 18 months? - doesn't sound like any kind of master plan or agenda to me. Cluster___ would be a much better description. I don't suppose either of us can speak to what Trump was doing with classified info during the time he was in the WH. But this 'dump' as a finale - speaks to no plan at all. Indicating nothing so much as dissolution - and chaos.

(61,692 posts)to have become more circumspect in providing certain intel to the US after Trump had Lavrov, et al in the Oval.
Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States comprise the Five Eyes. These countries are parties to the multilateral UKUSA Agreement, a treaty for joint cooperation in signals intelligence. I guess there were more worried about TFG than breaking the treaty.
That little bit of sown distrust is a way to isolate a nation from its friends. And that isolation makes it easier to "take down" that nation. The Undeclared War, a fictional series on Peacock, used that as a thread in the plot.

(50,935 posts)The seizure of the 15 boxes in February and the 11 in August. Those are the kind of documents that only a very few can look at, and those very few people are only allowed to look at them in seecure pods inside Federal buildings.
One would think those warrants should have been served in March or earlier.

It's one big reason indictments have not been issued yet, the investigation is on-going. It's also why the affidavit won't be released, or will be released with a lot of blacked out text. Other people are involved, TBS.

That the CIA and FBI, etc. don't know this and act on it is why the democratic system is on the edge.

(50,552 posts)There is a very good chance Trump was moving classified information to his resorts the entire time he was in office.
The spy business relies on a lot of middlemen. If youre a spy you may never meet your case officer. Youll have a contact, that person will have one, and right up the chain before the information gets to the embassy and shipped back in diplomatic pouches to the agencys headquarters. This is for deniability
only one person knows the spy, only one person knows the case officer, and everyone else gets the stuff from a guy and gives it to a guy.
So
Trump smuggles classified documents out of the White House and puts them in Room 237 f his hotel. The first courier is a member of the club and always gets Room 237 for reasons the staff does not know.
Heres the frustrating part: even if all this comes out and Trump admits it in open court, there will still be a lot of people who think Trump is a wonderful man.
NJCher
(35,648 posts)As to the way he would transfer the documents and how the middle man set up would work, I recall posting a story here about how Putin had become wary of trump because he is so erratic.
As I read your post, I was thinking that trump would never be capable of following the rules carefully over a period of time.
An attempt to set up such a system may have been what that meeting with the two Russians was about. That was early in his term and I believed he shut out the note taker. It caused a high degree of suspicion here.
