If any RW "Christians" whine to you about Biden canceling student debt, send them to Deuteronomy 15

which actually ordered the Jews to forgive all debts owed by other Israelites every seven years, and required that “there be no poor among you.” Sounds downright socialist, I know.

1. Or PPP

More than 11.8 million Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans were issued as of June 30, 2021, with 708 borrowers receiving the maximum loan amount of $10 million.

Of the total number of loans, 4.1 million have been forgiven. The average dollar amount forgiven was $95,700. Of the borrowers receiving the maximum amount, 323 loans have been partially or fully forgiven.

12. This surfaces every once in a while.

Think about what it entailed: If you were 3 years from the 7th year (it was a specific year, not just "end of year 6 after you take out the loan" the most you'd be loaned was what you'd be expected to reasonably pay back in 3 years.

Want that car loan? You don't qualify for that 36-month loan, only a charity would "loan" you the money. Or how about that 5-year mortgage you'd be able to take out in year 2 of the cycle.

You'd know, as a loaner, that people would game the system. Any loan taken out by people in year 5 or 6 would likely be a gift, because of how long it would take for "justice"--getting back what somebody promised.

Credit cards? In year 7, all balances would go to $0. What credit card would do anything but reduce the limits: This year, you can have $8k on your card. Next year, max of $7k. Year after that, $5.5k. And if you run afoul of the limit, card's locked and you're in court.

That policy works in an agrarian society where most people know most, and wealth is limited--and where an alternative to being deep in debt exists.

You see, the verse in this case was, itself, cherry picked--pulled out of context.

6. When I went out to dinner last night...

The people at the table next to me were bashing Biden's plan and spouting literally everything they heard from Fox News and were making jokes like "Oh if they can pay for student loans they can pay for my mortgage", then the rest of the table laughed at that comment while spouting every anti-education talking point in the Murdoch playbook. It was pretty nauseating.

Even funnier was one person at the table was bragging about how their kids were getting into really expensive schools like USC and Stanford. Hey you can't have it both ways guys.

11. They don't want it both ways, they want it any way they can get it. Cheating especially.

13. While I don't agree with this particular theology, Christians think Jesus came to forgive their

Sins, depicted as debt.

16. Excellent.

But that only applies to real Jesus people. Not this watered down cult of snake handling, tongue talking, magical healing, money needin MurKKKan white Jesus beleebers. They replace all verses they don’t like with part of the second amendment. Just duck tape it right over those sissy ass caring verses.
