PALM BEACH, Fla. For a time, Anna de Rothschild boasted of her family roots to the European banking dynasty, donning designer clothes, a Rolex watch, and driving a $170,000 black Mercedes-Benz SUV.
She talked about developing a sprawling luxury housing project on Emerald Bay in the Bahamas, a high-rise hotel in Monaco, and a Formula One race track in Miami, say people who knew her.
A pivotal moment for the woman who was fluent in several languages took place last year when she was invited to Mar-a-Lago, where she mingled with former President Donald Trumps supporters and showed up the next day for a golf outing with Mr. Trump and Sen. Lindsey Graham among other political luminaries.

But the 33-year-old woman was not a member of the famous banking family, and is now a subject of a widening FBI investigation that has delved into her past financial activities and the events that led her to the former presidents home.

Exposes like this are why Benedict Donald's hoarding of government documents is so troublesome. That the daughter of an Illinois truck driver whose real name is Anna Yashchyshyn and is being investigated for fraud in Canada gained access to Benedict Donald's inner circle is unbelievable.

(90,773 posts)What just really shocks, and disappoints me, is how long this skulduggery has been visible, out on plain sight. And NOTHING was ever said, or made note of, or written about, or in ANY way viewed askance.
Does anybody remember an uproar when the Orange Turd invited all those Russians into the Oval Office, early in his "term", and showed them around, and a Russian new crew was in there covering it, and NO American media was there. NONE. NO network. NO major newspaper. NO radio network. NO bigtime blogger or internet commentator. Not even anybody from the Republican party!
Did anybody - even among OUR media or muckrakers or investigative reporters or anybody - ANYBODY - even notice, or ask why that was?
Maybe somebody here remembers, and I'd love to hear about it. Cuz I don't remember any such thing.
Is that when he started giving our secrets away? To win brownie points with Putin? To thank Putin for whatever help the Russian boss provided to tip the 2016 election to him? To sweeten the deal for construction of Trump Moscow? Maybe all three? Or maybe more than even those?
I learned from long observation of the donald never to trust a slickie-boy like him any farther than I could throw my house.

(82,312 posts)If these high crimes are the ones he showed us, what in the holy hell did he do in secret?
Right why are we the only ones paying attention and caring about our country?
How does the FBI, CIA, Military Intelligence not notice what we saw all along.
How does the DOJ and FBI let Trump have secret documents in his unlocked basement for a year and a half?
Trump is a long time criminal and opportunistic predator and crook. It is safe to assume he started a crime spree the same day he entered the White House.
calimary
(90,773 posts)I doubt his first one started the day he entered the White House. THAT crime spree was just an extension of what he already had going, but not yet under the protection of his being president.
Since it's him, I'd suspect, he already had a slew of high crimes either already underway or just wrapped up. He was just shifting everything into a much higher gear, and with a VASTLY broader reach.
I can't help but suspect the last time he was provably innocent was when he was still in diapers and not old enough to walk or talk yet.
Irish_Dem
(82,312 posts)That is why his parents had to send him to military school. The story is that he used to beat up his teachers.
I meant the WH crime spree started the day he crossed the WH threshold.
Yes the presidency for Trump was like a kid in a candy store.
So many opportunities, so many ways to steal from the US taxpayer, so many goodies to sell.
And the most delicious part of all, is that if you are president they let you do it.
No one would touch him for any crime he committed.
He must have been ecstatic and we know he was unstoppable.

(2,307 posts)On Netflix there is currently a nine episode series called "Inventing Anna" based Anna Sorokin, a German scammer. In the beginning credits it always states, "This whole story is completely true. Except the parts that are totally made up." Very similar story, but a different Anna altogether.
Maybe they can do this Anna's story as season two.

(29,290 posts)characters said Anna had a peasant face and that nobody who wasn't legitimately wealthy could get away with that in their world of the rich. Also, everyone said she had great fashion sense but it was only wearing off the rack designer clothes. Like Ivanka, poorly-fitting off the rack absurdly expensive clothes. Anyone too beautiful and creative would be suspect!

He's no different from the Robber Barons of the late 19th, early 205h century who scouted Europe for threadbare castles and palaces, had entire rooms dismantled and reassembled in their Newport "cottages," ostensibly to impress their titled original owners.
The one thing these guys want is to become a domestic aristocracy, so they're often taken in by fake titles.
