NBC: Over 10,000 govt docs without classified markings were seized from Mar-a-Lago, DOJ says

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcna46064

Besides documents marked top secret and classified, newly unsealed information shows Trump also had a mountain of other documents and photos.

In addition to troves of information marked "secret" and "top secret," the FBI's search of former President Donald Trump's Florida home turned up over 10,000 U.S. government documents and photographs without classification markings, a newly unsealed Justice Department inventory of the seized items shows.

The Justice Department court filing, filed under seal earlier this week but unsealed by a judge Friday, also shows investigators found more than 40 empty folders with "classified" banners on them at Mar-a-Lago. It's unclear what happened to the information that had been inside the folders.

Wtaf??? More at link. Lock the slob up in solitary, with strict gag order!

He can't be trusted at all and somebody should have been watching every move he was making both as president, and on the way out the door.

Its like leaving Ted Bundy on a college campus.

It's too late now.

Which wouldn't surprise me in the least. The intelligence community is tasked with protecting us and the world from the by-products of evil men and women. Politics is not their concern.

I can hardly wrap my mind around that number.

To me, this says he was squirreling this stuff away though out his time in the White House, not just when he finally realized he was being evicted. And gawd knows how much is hidden elsewhere.

Funny thing, I easily carried over 10,000 documents out of my vault and destroyed them. I had a pair of 55 gallon 'Bingo' burn barrels and a jerry can of diesel fuel; better than a shredder any day

Executive Order 11652—Classification and Declassification of National Security Information and Material was my authority; declassified material was handled and destroyed the same way classified stuff was.

The United States would have been much better off with you in charge of Trump's documents.
At least if you had destroyed them asap, he couldn't have sold them to our enemies.

And you know the actual law regarding classified docs.

On a large well known military base.

We never knew what she did exactly. She was locked in the vault for her work day.

She could only go the bathroom with a military escort.

They took her purse at the door each morning and handed it back to her at the end of the day.

She had to document every single activity during the day.
If she opened a desk drawer she had to log it.

We knew what field her master's degree was in.
So we could guess what she was doing.

She finally quit, she couldn't stand it.

Yes I am sure you had to burn the typewriter ribbon and then log that activity.

They knew what it was like and how they were treated (rightly so.)

And they knew exactly what it meant if they did not adhere to the rules.

To see what Trump has done must be infuriating on many levels.

Maybe the unclassified thousands of documents were being hoarded so he could hire someone to ghost write his own version of his presidency, with hopes to get a bundle from the sales. His version would have been a "tell all" about "evil Democrats" and justify him staying in office indefinitely in order to "clean up" government.

Trump's version of Mein Kampf.
