(6,845 posts)I had to listen on my phone so I thought maybe YouTube is running a stream of it and they were. It was from Fox.
I found that surprising.
But yep.

(17,384 posts)just to spin how evil Biden is to their viewers. Only watched him about 5 minutes.
I watched the evening news on ABC, CBS, & NBC tonight, CBS did not say one word about Biden's speech,
the other 2 did.

(17,995 posts)They wonder why cable is losing. Iewers? People can only take so much of Trump and his latest blathering!
They show a small portion of anything the President talks about, then cut it off in the middle.
I had several friends who only have basic cable. Not one local station showed it.if not for CSPAN 1,2 and 3 I would cut my cable.
The President had a meeting with Business leaders. They discussed how much the infrastructure bill was helping them. He talked about how manufacturing is being helped, the energy programs, the internet expansion.
It was really interesting, showing how much the economy is changing.they showed a small portion.

(2,043 posts)He was let down by his own party in the 80's for a unibrow that was the weakest candidate to run against the weakest weasel the repukes ever tossed in the ring, was let down by fate with the worst tragedy a civil human can experience, not once but twice, was eventually let down by the godfathers of his devout faith that got him through 40 years of shit that would've taken the strongest of men down. PRESIDENT BIDEN (I am so proud to say that) has been through more shit than the entire republican caucuses in the house AND the senate COMBINED! Yet the man still serves, in his golden years, years he so justifiably deserves to be low blood pressure years with his grand kids, wife and DOGS, the life WE ARE ALL ASKING HIM TO GIVE US!!!!!
Yet, he still serves. Pushing this guy much harder you're gonna get the Joe I remember 40 years ago. He's a plugged up syringe with the thumb of evil pushing and pushing. Trust me, the repukes don't want to see this guy pop, the old ones especially are fore warning.
Buddah bless him, I've said it before, he's been my hero for 40 years.

(2,043 posts)nor do I have TV or cable or any of that stuff, it's all internet. Well I do have antennae TV lol but it seldom gets watched. I had no idea that a presidential speech titled The Soul of Our Nation was not even carried on broadcast TV. I have to admit, I was at a Wu Tang concert here at Deer Creek music center, first live music show Ive seen since 2019, but my partner recorded it for me. Hopefully many were like me and recorded it or something. it's hard to figure out how many people see shit anymore and we shouldn't judge by thinking people that live in trailers are so stupid they only get 3 channels via tin foil like the old days. People will and can get the info they want nowadays regardless. It's better than having it force fed.

(206,339 posts)I tend to post things like speeches and the J6 Committee hearings since I know that a lot of DUers don't have cable or even TV. And it's the one I watched, from MSNBC, and I was told that this was closed captioned while other broadcasts weren't.
And you're right, most everything is available online these days - even some concerts. I'm glad you enjoyed your concert, it's been ages since I've been to a live show (except for Al Franken last year!). We have Saratoga Performing Arts Center and I went to quite a few concerts over the years, but it shut down summer before last - along with everything else - because of the pandemic and I haven't checked it out since.
Here's the president's speech if you still haven't seen it:

(15,559 posts)I voluntarily don't have cable. I can well afford to but I don't have enough years left to waste it on the drivel they put out and the amount of money they charge for it. I do have an antennae (no, it doesn't use aluminum foil - lol). I get ABC, NBC, CBS and PBS. Mostly I watch PBS but I do catch the morning local news on one of the other. I contribute to PBS and have a Netflix subscription but that's all I pay for. It totals less than $20 a month. PBS has so much good programming, a lot from the UK that is brilliant. I don't need any more than that.
I didn't watch our President's speech live, but saw many clips of it online. I will set aside the time tonight to watch it through your link.
