Attorneys for Paige Casey said in a lawsuit filed in a county circuit court that CVS, which owns MinuteClinic, exempted the nurse for more than two and a half years from prescribing certain contraceptive drugs or devices that cause an abortion. It specifically cited Plan B and Ella, which are commonly referred to as morning-after pills. Casey was granted the accommodation after she wrote a request to the company based on her Catholic beliefs, the lawsuit said.

Why is she a former NP? Did she lose her credentials and then decide to sue.

(9,275 posts)Can we get a little science into this argument? And those drugs that actually do cause abortions are only prescribed at the pharmacy for miscarriages or (god forbid) ulcers or arthritis. I believe that to actually have an elective medication abortion the pills are only available at abortion providers or in the mail via telemedicine - not at your local CVS.

(2,026 posts)Better yet, a required interview question should be whether a medical staffer would refuse to prescribe/supply/whatever contraception, abortion, or other meds. If they say no, theyre automatically disqualified. Bye.
This was a question I was asked by my ex-boss as a LAWYER. Way back when I worked for a judge, one of his interview questions was whether I would have any problems handling emergency orders to allow teens to have an abortion without parental consent. I said HELL no, I have no problem with it. Best boss I ever had.
