I feel almost as bad as the day he got "elected." All I can think is, thanks a hell of a lot, Repubs. Look what you did.
Makes a mockery of all those Government employees pledged to guard the classified aspects of the Government machinery. He can't just be allowed to walk out of the WH with OUR docs under the guise of EP. He probably sold docs to foreign governments.
I noticed in several places in the Cannon decision that she said she "wasn't so sure." This indecision and therefore rule in Plaintiff's favor is disgusting.
I'm sad for us all.

(12,555 posts)The judge has locked that one down for now.
But they can come at him from another direction. There are so many to choose from; if they have the will. Jan 6, election tampering, obstruction, fraud, embezzlement, etc.
But the doj has to want to. The doc case was the easiest of the bunch. It is a strict liability case. Open and shut. But they need evidence.

(4,587 posts)since the DOJ cannot use the seized documents in any prosecution unless and until Special Master is appointed and reviews the seized documents.
All this is subject to appeal which unfortunately could take literally YEARS and will go through the 11th Circuit (7R/4D) and then the USSC (6R, 3D)

(31,920 posts)All it is stalling of the investigation into his documents theft and related espionage, and he may eventually be indicted for those crimes. There are other cases going on (election fraud, tax evasion, etc.), in the meantime. Some, if not all will likely result in indictments. Don't be surprised if DOJ has another grand jury and separate investigations into other crimes going on, either. As for this "Special Master" bullshit, it is nowhere near over. It will be appealed. I have a hunch that, like everything else related to this situation, so far, it's going to come back and bite him in the ass. It doesn't look that great now, but it didn't look good when he demanded release of the affidavit, either. That wound up blowing up in his face. Don't be surprised if this turns out to be another exploding cigar. Trump always makes things worse for Trump.
