People are willing to believe the worst at these times of heightened intensity.

Security did stop letting people leave for a short time. it had nothing to do with trying to keep people hostage though. If you look at the twitter feeds of the reporters that this story is based on both of them clarified that it was only for a short period.

My bet is it was while Romney was ariving at the event. He was 2 hours late getting there.

Most likely SOP when the candidate arrives.

The people were trying to go out from exits behind/around the stage in the Secret Service area and stopped. The people trying to leave were not told or directed to acceptable exits.

People were cold and angry. they'd been there since 2pm and His Royal Highness was late. There was no access to bathrooms apparently, so people wanted to go home, to get their kids out of the cold, etc., and the staff said no. They blocked the exits for a while refusing people the right to leave the arena for "security" purposes.

Too many independent sources and tweets at the event, for it to be fake. Eventually they started letting people leave, but apparently some people were sneaking out where they weren't supposed to and the staff got angry. Also many pics on twitter of a mass exodus while Mitt was still talking, after the publicity forced them to let people leave if they wanted to.

Once again, it was another concert thing, where people left before Romney was done talking. So yeah, it happened.

thought this was a funny hashtag tonite on twitter: #RomneyRallyHostages

Here ya go, here is one of many stories with actual reports from the event: http://m.dailykos.com/story/2012/11/04/1155596/-Romney-Campaign-TRAPS-supporters-wanting-to-leave-PA-Rally

10. Sounds like an overreaction to a barely reported story of people leaving other rallies.

I hope the story goes viral. But there's not really enough time. "Viral" takes a minimum of three days after the incident. By Wednesday, nobody will care. Kepp that in mind if you ever run for office and find yourself wanting to murder a nun or a box full of puppies.

11. I heard that it happened to a nun carrying a box full of puppies and that they tasered her.

And then the GOP guards responsible for it tried to blame it on Michelle Obama.
