(1,495 posts)lost my faith in humanity. I think we're in a situation now where people just want to ride the horse until he stops.
I just commented to my Trump loving neighbor that I got a jury duty summons. We discussed it and I commented that I'd make a terrible juror because I'd probably have too much empathy for the person on trial and worry that he could be innocent. He's like, "Oh not me, I'd find them guilty!" The irony that he loves everything Trump does and would be outraged if Trump is ever indicted for his crimes.
RIP, Koko. At least he no longer has to worry about this shit show.

(3,102 posts)Kokos human-coached message goes well beyond anything that a gorilla understands or cares about, such as human global impact, de Waal told HuffPost. He added that stunts like this one have given the ape-language field a bad name, whereas there is so much more to discover if we just study what cognitively advanced animals can do of their own accord.

(59,616 posts)Nature is like yin/yang
it can be incredibly beautiful and wonderful but also very cruel.
When it comes down to it, non-human animals tend to be more socialistic in nature sharing food, being fair, encouraging intelligence, and making sure their own are taken care of.
But when it comes to crossing species, and even sometimes within species, it is all about survival of the fittest and bloodshed.
Id like to think the human race is evolved enough to be socialist, but the MAGAts seem to be lacking in critical thinking skills, and resort to short-sighted territorial behavior. Which is weird, because a true socialist wants ALL humans, even those who fall into the snake-oil trappings MAGAts, to be treated equally.
Its just interesting to consider when pondering the human condition, and beings like Koko really make a person think

(17,728 posts)I'd say the majority of Americans are pretty self-involved, and that goes for Dems too. I know some people in my neighborhood who I know to be Democrats, but when it comes to following rules in the community and caring about the rest of their neighbors, well, not so much.
