Roberts attempting to defend the SCOTUS behavior(s) is an admission that they are damaged as

an institution.

If he thinks his credibility is just fine he is living in screwball land. This business of right wingers denying reality is getting shamefully old and tiresome.

The Roberts court caused more damage to democracy, and America as an idea, than almost any other court.

If he had any sense of duty or honor left he would resign.

Tell the newbies who got special favor that you don’t overturn a 50 yr. precedent which takes away human rights. And Tell Clarence that he needs to resign. Remind them what “separation of church and state” means.

The Chief Justice has no control over the Associate Justices. All of them have lifetime appointments.

What would you say?

..... POTUS ever, and he KILLED the Roberts' Court and made it lose any hope of being considered a judicial shining light.

The history books will tell the story of the court that was stacked with unqualified extremists and how they did all they could to take away freedoms from Americans that have existed for decades.

The good news is that the decisions of the current Roberts court will likely be responsible for the Blue Wave that is building to give Democrats control of both houses of congress in 2022.

Remember Citizens United was his, too. And election rulings galore that allowed Republicans to take power by cheating.

He helped build this monster & now that it's become clear it is out of control he is trying to play the part of Captain Renault in Casablanca in order to protect his "reputation".

I say his reputation is quite clear.

Will go down as the worst CJ ever, even eclipsing Roger B Taney who IMO was formerly the worse CJ ever (Taney will still hold the spot for the most creepy looking CJ’s ever) but in terms of damage done to the court and the country Roberts has excelled. Citizens United was disastrous, his wallflower act at the 1st impeachment, letting the clock run out on the Emoluments crimes and his allowing the GOP to use and turn his court into a branch of the GOP for bias political rulings is the final nail in the once non bias arbiter known as the Supreme Court.

specific individuals and institutions that have bought the courts, and spend the remainder of life advocating for egalitarian court without corruption. Roberts would say today which USSC Justices do not have the skills or philosophy to be on the court and also call out the recent Justices (plus Thomas) regards the irregularities in their appointments.

The problem is that they - RWers in any job any education, any class - believe that they are in the right. Which is why they don’t resign but rather double down. IMHO it is sickness and a moral failing.

Bush - by far the most authoritarian U.S. President until Cheeto - didn't just pick him out of thin air.

He - or rather, his Rasputins - knew exactly who they'd be shoving into such a strategic post for the next 30-40 years.

Yes, Roberts has gone off-script here and there - but in general, he's little better than all those "mainstream conservative" judges who, without being Nazis themselves, enabled Hitler and his abuses.

The fly in the ointment is the Senate Judiciary Committee, which has 11 Democratic members and 11 Republican members. If the committee deadlocks on moving a nominee to the full Senate, it can slow things down quite a bit. Biden nominated a black woman for the 11th Circuit in January, but her nomination still has not gone to the full Senate. Republicans are refusing her because she once worked for the ACLU.

That said, neither Roberts nor any of the other right-wing extremists on the Court will resign. They’re enjoying their power to remake US laws according to their biases too much.
