Will Charles set a different tone

in his figurehead job that has zero power in the functioning of the British government and is more of a tourist attraction than a monarch in any real sense?

And who cares?

However, it's not our circus and not our monkeys. We have our own, bigger problems, like a former president who might be a spy for the Russians.

Reagan got 59% with 49 states in 1984, so that precent isn't small.

I think Charles will have a tough time. William will step up like his grandmother when the time comes. He has Kate too which will be golden for him.

I’ve heard he wants to scale back the monarchy so it’s not such a big financial drain on Britain.
We’ll see.

Charles is a spoiled brat. Sure he has some good issues (climate change, etc.) but I cannot imagine his mother making a crude comment like Charles did regarding Camilla. I cannot imagine the late Queen being a public embarrassment as Charles and his siblings have been.

One reason I like being an American is we don't put up with such bullshit as a royal family. We put up with other bullshit instead.

I'll take a powerless ceremonial hereditary monarchy over another president like TFG any day. We, unfortunately, are stuck with an antiquated, cumbersome, antidemocratic method of electing presidents that made the likes of Trump possible and might do it again.

The Electoral College is an historic relic that results in minority rule. That's not democracy.

You're also right that the monarchy is fairly harmless. Trump is an existential threat. King Charles, not so much.

Perhaps a little latent monarchy envy. Perplexed why some people have such King Charles III and monarch animosity. We are not members of the United Kingdom, are we? So who cares how they choose to be who they are.
