(114,675 posts)Philly being on the list doesn't surprise me. That said, rudeness is on the rise everywhere.

In all seriousness, the 'burbs are nastier. Unscientific and anecdotal, but I find people within the city to be more polite and helpful. They are colder and more entitled in the 'burbs. JMO

Go down South and they are all smiles to Northerners, all while talking trash about them behind their backs.
Move to some of those towns and try to set up a store, and you will be shunned by the locals.
You could live there for 20 years and still be treated as an outcast, as they try to drive you out of town.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
