Senate Republicans to introduce nationwide abortion ban: Reports

"U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) will lead Senate Republicans in a push to pass a nationwide ban on abortion in a press conference Tuesday, less than two months before the November midterms, according to multiple reports.

Despite wording in an apparent press release calling it a "late-term" abortion ban, The Washington Post's Caroline Kitchener says it is expected to call for a ban on all abortions at or after 15 weeks.

"Tomorrow, Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser, and pro-life women leaders will join Senator Lindsey Graham(R-SC) at a press conference at the U.S. Capitol for the introduction of the Protecting Pain-Capable Unborn Children from Late-Term Abortions Act," the press release from Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America reads.

The move to impose a nationwide abortion ban barely into the second trimester comes less than three months after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down Roe v. Wade, the nearly 50-year old landmark decision that said there is a constitutional right to abortion. Justices and Republicans insisted it was a states' rights issue, but with this push to ban abortion before some women even know they're pregnant it's clear the states' rights claim was a smokescreen.

Politico's Alice Miranda Ollstein also reported on the expected announcement by Sen. Graham.

The Supreme Court's decision in the Dobbs case, rescinding the civil right to abortion, and the Democrats' promise to make the right to abortion a federal law, along with President Biden's historic legislative successes, have moved projected control of the Senate back to the Democrats."

A. They obviously are clueless as to how the Senate works, and the chances of this bill going anywhere.

B. They obviously are clueless as to the fact this will actually decrease their chances of taking back the Senate, meaning at least 2 more years in the minority.

They know it's incredibly unpopular, so much so that they may end up losing both houses. But it riles up the base and keeps the party line going: "See? We could live in paradise if it weren't for the libtards! (And women, and Black people, and Asian people, and brown people, and children post-birth, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.)"

Why in the world would they unveil a WILDLY unpopular bill with no chance of passage in a blue congress?

All across the country their candidates are trying to run and hide from this issue which is bad enough for them and now congressional rethugs are taking away even the “states should decide” argument from them???

They are undermining their own candidates and it makes no sense to me! Wtf are they doing???

This is "catapulting the bullshit" and "flooding the zone with bullshit", well...BULLSHIT! That's all it is.

Believe it, or not, this is their attempt to appear "reasonable" or "moderate".

This will allow them to say; "see, we don't hate women, this gives them 15 weeks to make their 'choice'".

They can see the tea leaves. They were hoping their corruptly stacked court of Nazi, Christofascist fucksticks would wait until after the midterms to show their asses, but Alito and the other 5 asspickles jumped the shark.

This is their attempt to allow their candidates to run away from Dobbs by saying; "see, abortion would be allowed up to 15 weeks". Isn't that "reasonable".

Nevermind that this bill would never pass the House, probably wouldn't even get a hearing in the Senate, and sure as hell wouldn't satisfy their base.

It's BULLSHIT

and if you doubt that it's bullshit, you will truly know it's bullshit when you see the media hounding the Democrats about why they won't support this "very reasonable" proposal from the fascists.

Suppose some bully in the playground stole your lunch. If the bully tried to give you back half of your sandwich, he'd claim he was being "reasonable".

This is nothing more than a bully trying to appear "moderate" by offering you half of your sandwich back.

why on Earth are they doubling down on this? What the actual chicken fried fuck are they thinking? What's is this in purpose of? Is this to please their fat, old white bread boys? I just don't get it. I mean, if women only represented about a quarter to a third of the US population, I might could wrap my head around this, but the last I looked women actually outnumber men in this country and most of us right now are in full beatdown outrage over this so-called decision that strips women and girls of their personal autonomy of our own bodies.

It is brazenly obvious that Repugs are terrified of women. Apparently, it is their belief that women will not continue to accept the male domination of of the fairer sex and will increasingly vote for democratic freedom in future elections. Thus, if Repugs can find a way to take away a woman's right to vote, they will always be in the majority. What better way to accomplish this goal than to take away this right than make abortion and any form of birth control crimes. Conviction to result in imprisonment and loss of the right to vote.

Anti-abortion was never about saving lives. It was always about power and money for right-wing religions and was eagerly adopted by right-wing politicians as a fool-proof way to dominate the female population and limit women's rights.

At the moment, women have their future and their lives in their own hands; hands that will record their vote against any Repug/right-wing candidate.

Use it or lose it!

There will always be traitors to any worthy cause. In this case it will be the women who believe they will be the exception to the coming purge. Those brainwashed by religion and their fathers, those who capitalize financially, those who are drunk with power over their sisters, those who are dominated by their male partners and those who are bitter against other women who live a happier, more fulfilled life, all come to mind. Most are now useful idiots to the Repugs and their christo-fasciest allies. When they are no longer useful they will still be idiots. Idiots without rights.

The Christo-fascists love the thought of keeping the old male heads of church in power. Think of all the money they can siphon into their own pockets. Think of the unlimited power over the population. Whatever religious fantasies they indulge in will become law. To them women have always been the temptation and cause of evil in the world. Perhaps this is the belief in the fairy tale of the Garden of Eden.
Remember that a human has always had his hand in the world's religious texts. The King James version of the bible is not named that without reason.

If right-wing politics and right-wing religion can prevail in the next election, think of all the atrocities that women will possibly suffer. Rape, honor killings, underage marriages, forced marriages, sexual abuse and physical abuse are but a few of the possibilities. Women will become property of the males in their lives.

Use it or lose it!

BTW, I am an old, white, Southern male. I have had my confrontations with women. Won some; lost some. In spite of that we are all different but equal human beings.
