(23,454 posts)The Trump administration - and his activities since then - have proved to be the worst intelligence calamity since 9/11.
So for all our sake, I hope so.

(3,179 posts)Thats one reason hes so interested in all the FISA intelligence. My hope is that Obama (and his VP) on their way out had an inkling, which they should have, and perhaps compartmentalized some things, certain operations, salted documents, etc, and some of that is coming to fruition now.

If so, I'm sure he confirmed their worst expectations.

(11,913 posts)he had russian spies in the Oval Office four months after his inauguration.

(23,454 posts)Yes - some of that is absolutely essential (terrorist plots cooked up overseas, brewing wars that might affect regional stability, etc.).
But a lot of it is squandered on monitoring - and, allegedly, manipulating - petty politics in foreign countries.
And even there, they often come to the wrong conclusions - mostly because they tend to rely on "sources" with one-sided agendas (mainly right-wing).
In any case, they end up squandering untold thousands of man-hours - and millions of dollars - on what generally amount to cat fights and food fights among foreign politicians we'll never really understand anyway.
While domestic fifth-columns and anti-democratic threats (many of them richly-funded) fly under the radar.
