The Wall Street Journal reports that the $3 million paid by Donald Trumps Super PAC to his new lawyer, Chris Kise, was because the former president was known not to pay some bills.
Mr. Kise avoided at least the issue of nonpayments by securing $3 million in advance and, if the case drags, the leeway to bill for more.

(24,761 posts)excitement of owning a racehorse. The story was in one of the truckload of books that came out before the first election, as everyone who knew Trump tried to warn what a sleazy bastard he was. The horse went into training. But before he began the season, the horse got sick and couldn't start. I think it was the friend who explained to Trump that the horse couldn't run. Trump had a fit, insisting that the horse run anyway. I can't remember the end. Did the friend override greedy guts? Did the horse run and ruin himself? Apparently Trump did own it if he tried to pay a debt with it. He pulled the $5 million out of the air, for sure. Even if the horse was a winner, no way Trump would pay for feed, stabling, a trainer and exercise rider, groom, vet care, and farriers. No way. We'd have heard Trump crowing about owning the best racehorse in America.
