note: Tommy Carcetti pointed out in post #7 this this was from June, and I apologize for not catching that! The reporting Navalny had lost atty-client privileges last week made it seem current.
Alexei Navalnys spokesperson Kira Yarmysh said Tuesday that the imprisoned Russian opposition leaders whereabouts are currently unknown.
Alexei Navalny was transported away from the penal colony No. 2. His lawyer, who came to see him, was kept at the checkpoint until 14.00, and was then told: There is no such convict here,' Yarmysh wrote on Twitter. We do not know where Alexei is now and what colony they are taking him to.
Neither Alexeis attorneys nor his relatives were informed about his transfer in advance. There were rumors that he was going to be transferred to the high-security penal colony IK-6 Melekhovo, but it is impossible to know when, and if, he will actually arrive there, she added.
[snip]
As long as we dont know where Alexei is, he remains one-on-one with the system that has already tried to kill him, so our main task now is to locate him as soon as possible, Yarmysh said.

(43,173 posts)He was ultimately moved to the Melekhovo prison.
His lawyers have had contact with him and he does provide reports to them which are then put out over Twitter. But apparently the authorities have been growing increasingly restrictive with access to him.
Here's the most recent report, for example:

Am so relieved. It fit with the stories last week that he had lost attorney-client privileges, seeming a Putin natural progression.
Will make a note on the OP.
