This is THE picture for Dems to use to demonstrate the abject cruelty of Ron DeSantis.

Last edited Sat Sep 17, 2022, 12:31 AM - Edit history (1)

Look at this little boy, sleeping in his mother’s arms... the tiny hand... the shoeless little foot... the long dark eyelashes...
To Ron Desantis, this toddler is just a piece of subhuman garbage to be shuffled around and used as a prop in the governor's attempt to become dictator of the USA.

discuss the stupidity and irresponsibility of their continuing to broadcast sports on, supporting, endorsing 20 x-limbaugh radio stations.

from fakenewsradio.org FLORIDA 20 Florida 10, Florida St. 4 Miami 2, South Florida 2, Central Florida 2 - (5 of 87 universities). at $1000/hr x 15 hours/day x 5 days 20 stations are worth $1.5 MILLION /week FREE for republicans and everything they push. that's worth more that anything a few billionaires can do for them.

those schools are supporting global warming denial in florida!

if any of those schools started a public discussion about this absurdity the others would have to follow. UF is a prime target for dems to freak out the GOP. advertisers would head for the hills.

If it hasn't changed by now, it simply isn't going to.
Get a liberal billionaire to take over a high powered station & offer more money to carry games. The college will follow the money. Problem solved. But apparently its not that big a priority for any of them. I know plenty of people who will watch a game but listen to the radio call because its the home announcers. But they don't listen to the station any OTHER time. I always thought that was kinda silly especially when there's a lag between radio & TV

response - all it takes to chase off half or more advertisers is for there to be a public discussion. dems and liberals and certainly students have no fucking clue how much of this disaster comes out of those stations.

there was a very low level but long term activism at the uni of colorado to get it off denver's major limbaugh station and eventually the station moved limbaugh to a lesser station. it is possible the station did that to avert a public discussion that might get the denver pro athletes involved.

follow the money? radio pays little compared with TV rights. and those stations constantly work to reduce funding for public ed, attack teachers aNd profs, oppose debt deform, attack kneeling athletes, call BLM a terrorist org, etc.

most of those stations were broadcasting sports for those schools long before they were converted to KKK stations and they never reread their mission statements. republican alum love it and dem alum and faculty and students have no clue.

4. These are refugees
Fri Sep 16, 2022, 01:39 PM
Sep 2022

DeSantis and my governor, Greg Abbot, talk about these people as if they are an invading army that will overwhelm U.S. They are furious that the federal government now expects that the federal authorities (U.S. Customs and Border Patrol) to obey the U.S. laws governing how we deal with refugees

During the Trump maladministration refugees were renamed illegal immigrants and the U.S. started refusing to allow potential refugees to petition for asylum as the law prescribes. They at first started taking the refugees and imprisoning them and splitting families up. When the outrage over these blatant crimes against humanity grew too loud the Trump administration came up with Title 42. Title 42, using Covid as a pretext, barred refugees from entering the country to petition for asylum and allowed for quick deportation/expulsion of those already here including asylum seekers. This forced thousands to wait at the Mexican border in places like Tijuana, Ciudad Juarez, Matamoros. They had to wait in Mexico.

Now the Biden administration has cancelled rule 42 for the most part.

So, now these two border governors are showing their true fascist colors.

They're now treating asylum seekers, refugees, desperate immigrants as sub humans who can be shipped around the country like freight. These pompous hate bags are showing the world just how good and Christian the current version of the Republican party is.

These are people. Refugees who are trying to find sanctuary where they can live and work and contribute to the society they live in.

Semi-fascist? No, I think these are full fascists. While I applaud my incredible president's calling these folks out I balk at any sugar coating. These people are full on fascists. They meet all the criteria.

Former AG Gonzales once spoke up and said that people claiming asylum are not illegal. Only by crossing the border can you request asylum. Despite that, Fox and the other low lifes kept using the term.

After all, her pedestal includes “that ‘give me your tired, you’re poor’ garbage that forces us to let all the riffraff in”, right?

Gotta say, it’s really shameful. It’s embarrassing. We are ALL from immigrant stock. Even if you can claim your ancestors came over on the Mayflower, you’re STILL an heir of immigrants.

That’s supposed to be the cool thing about America. E pluribus unum. From many, one. It’s just sad. Those new arrivals went through hell and probably literally high water to get here - to the land of their dreams, hoping to build a future for themselves and their children. It’s disgraceful how they’re maligned. Really sad. And embarrassing.

In the past, immigrants helped to build this country. We have so much work we need to do on infrastructure, climate change projects, and even right now we need more people to work as baby boomers leave the workforce in massive numbers. Younger people are having fewer or no babies. Where do they think they'll get all the employees in the coming years? There are a lot of jobs that our own younger citizens won't do.

If we waste even one second pretending that this will cost DeSantis politically in any way, then we're fools.

His racist base absolutely LOVES him for doing this, as will Trump's KKKult if DeSantis finds his way on to the 2024 ballot.

It is ridiculous to expect that these fully invested racist shitheads are going to come to their senses simply because they're shown a picture of the pure humanity of their victims. If anything, pictures like they above will reaffirm their racism, because they'll blame the mother for putting the child in that situation.

DeSantis will suffer no real blowback for this, and Dems will see no real gains from it.

He's a grump and uncommunicative, and thus can't rile the rubes like Trump does. Take him out of the political picture and he reverts to the backbencher that he was always destined to be. They are both narcissistic, sociopathic aholes, but Ron never learned the charm part.
