Should Migrants Be Granted Amnesty When GOP Pulls Stunts?

If I were Biden, I would grant migrants instant amnesty when republiklan govs transport them into blue states as a political stunt. And I would make sure they're registered to vote.

if they want to apply, learn the ropes, give them the same chance anyone else has. Give them ESL courses, instruct them on laws and rules (no, you do NOT get to beat your sister/daughter half to death if she dates whomever she wants to date.and yes, you WILL serve a long prison sentence and then be expelled if you do it anyway), and offer them job training.

No doubt some bad apples will need to be weeded out, but probably no greater a percentage than the bad apples in the state governments and law enforcement agencies of Texas, Georgia, Alabama or Florida, and nobody seems to be able to weed THEM out.

Give a safe place to live, a school, doctors and a decent Christmas, Birthday, Ramadan. … whatever the holiday.

More than Amnesty.

Be kinder than necessary.

Pay it forward.

I'll let this immigration lawyer explain it:

As she said in the end, this is looking like it will "backfire spectacularly" on De Santis.

That offers them a "UVISA" winch allows them to stay here, protected. The thing is, it can take years for the UVISA to be awarded and they can't be deported during that time. Describe more completely in the video.

More likely, he was trying to repeat the stunt the KKK types pulled back during the civil rights era, when they sent a bunch of black people there, trying to embarrass President Kennedy. He was hoping it would be successful this time. Ooops. This is all about trying to prove that "liberals" are hypocritical NIMBY types. I'm sure the fact that the Obamas own a place there played into it, as well.

As for the time it takes to award U Visas, these things can be expedited. As they often are in high-profile cases. If they want to deport any of them, they'll deport them. That being said, it's still going to take time to sort through all the legal chaos this stunt caused, regardless.

Didn't have a clue about that part.

I remember the 1960s stunts. I was a part-time resident of Centerville, MA and we went to my grandmother's church in Hyannis - seems they sponsored some of the victims. I was pretty young but had an idea of what was going on as politics and current events were openly discussed in our home. I remember seeing black people in that church for the first time, they were well dressed and the preacher acknowledged them during the service. In my Sunday school class there were two girls from the group, we looked at each other a lot, I have a light olive complexion and back then was deemed "colored". I remember that other people in the church noticed me after that.

My mom, a bigot who was married to a man who looked black-ish and had five kids with him , was pissed about them being there.
She called them "freeloaders" and thought they should be shipped back to the south.

It was also after we had spent some time in Memphis, TN and it was not a pleasant stay because of our skin color. My mom was Wisconsin white, most of my siblings are blonde, didn't matter, my dad and I were too dark for the locals and we had to live in a house on a former plantation which was inherited by the slaves and only black people lived there. I remember that place too but it's a long story.

Suffice it to say, I remember the time before the Civil Rights Act and I remember the busing incidents and assassinations of the 60s quite well. The current events are quite stressful for me.

We don’t need to feed them any reasons for getting their voters to the polls.
We need to keep Congress for now, and possibly give them amnesty later

T visas are for people who are trafficked
U visas are for people who are victims of crime.
These visas can then be used to get a green card and be on the path to citizenship.

This is under current immigration law; no legislation needed.

Immigration is lowering inflation. We desperately need these workers because we have a demographics problem.
This is why Democrats are doing nothing to stop the immigration. Which is why repukes refuse to talk about any kind of immigration legislation. It is driving them crazy that Biden is lowering inflation.

Biden is correct when he says the right is practicing fascism.
When a society picks a group of people to hate and vilify this folks is fascism.
It is a well used historical political game to wind up a stupid base of people. It leaves people dead.

And they'll pursue a better life for their families up here, not down in red Amurka, improving our economy and not theirs. Even from a cold, unfeeling economic point of view, we need them. We need them desperately. Despite our economic woes, unemployment is virtually nonexistent in most of the US and our birth rate is well below replacement value. So, if the yahoos in red Amurka expect someone to cover their social security and medicare in the coming years, they need to welcome immigrants, not shit on them. Otherwise, they're fucking themselves once again.

These people fled governmental abuse.
They arrive here and received...governmental abuse (albeit at the state level).

To rectify our shame at how we treated them we should go above and beyond the usual process. Instant citizenship, full aid in housing, education, employment.

We - WE - have wronged them, lied to them, used them. To begin to make amends for our horrid and shameful behavior we should treat them the best we possibly can.

I hang my head.

Oh, and why hasn't the FBI arrested DeMantis for kidnapping?

don't work well for immigrants' journeys to "safety" or "the better life" at the border states of entry. I am sure the USA can better show genuine hospitality to newcomers; the problem being that they've come in such numbers. Smaller groups of immigrants without family and/or ready sponsors in need of the basics would be better served, perhaps, by a mandatory short, very short, period of education in American language and "how to" locate processes for finding resources like jobs, transportation, clothing, food banks, healthcare, legal needs. I do believe that mandatory naturalization classes should be offered sooner, ASAP, in fact, and perhaps either on-line or in small groups in every branch of public libraries free of charge; then amnesty when they take and pass the test at cost, for those that have succeeded in minimally assimilating to their new lives and jobs in the USA. Long drawn out processes with large fees to attorneys are not conducive to making new citizens that can then participate more fully on their own terms in American life. Don't we have enough American citizens who need American solutions to life in America? We see this on our streets and in our courts because we have lived too long under governance of wealthy by greed, corrupt, out-of-touch, mean-spirited, discriminatory policies courtesy of the GOP and their harmful stunt-pulling. Yet some of those stunts do highlight the need to make changes sooner than later.

That said, I'm so proud that blue Martha's Vineyard, et al, did not panic in fear of 50 asylum seekers though you'd might never know that listening to MSM who seems to dwell on the nasties/deplorable people aligned with TFG and his cultists.
