We have lost every land war in Asia since WW II and we can't win one against China. China knows that so the warning means what?

No one is discussing a land war, in any case.

An attempted invasion of Taiwan would happen by sea.

The cost of an invasion against a territory that has been planning its armed resistance for many decades, in waters that are treacherous most of the year, and with active resistance from the US fleet (along with the naval forces of our allies), should give China serious pause.

They see what's happened to Putin's forces.

I think Scott Pelley is too old to be asking questions. They were all predictable, and aimed at getting a gotcha answer or making news. Send him to the home. Joe did well, though.

You are missing a critical point, we have not seen the development of another spike/wave since Nov '21. Pandemics/Epidemics are based on the rate of the spread/growth of a disease. Our cases and deaths have been on the downward trend or flat for 9 months. The cycle of out of control waves of infections has subsided as almost everyone has been infected, vaccinated and in many cases both. We are now in a more stable endemic stage.

As our wonderful President exclaimed, the pandemic is over!

President Biden sampled cherries at a Michigan orchard, then went for pie and ice cream. He went to church, spent an afternoon golfing and hosted a massive cookout on the South Lawn of the White House. Then in a Sunday evening speech, he declared the country's near independence from covid-19.

“We are emerging from the darkness of .?.?. a year of pandemic and isolation, a year of pain, fear and heartbreaking loss,” Biden said during a 15-minute speech to a jubilant crowd at the White House. Silent streets have become filled, he said, and empty stadiums are now full.

That said, your claim that deaths in Sep. of 2020 were the same as they are today is simply not true. Average daily deaths at that point was ~700-800, almost double the ~400/day we have now.
