Seriously, I know this was a moment in time, that will never come again.. but whew... that was a lot!..
I wish all a moment of quiet and reflection .. I still have family living about about an hour outside of London.. and it is exhausting for them also.. Safe journeys to all who went and attended the farewells..
Harry and Meghan.. catch the first plane home you can and do not look at any social media or gasbags like Piers Morgan.. they are whining to skies.. mostly because you will be back here and they will have to find someone else to tie to a post and throw poo at..
To all the DU members who call the Isles home, are part of the Commonwealth.. or who find a piece of their hearts there.. my deepest sympathies, and I know you will be fine, but truly I am sorry
To all the trolls who cannot stand that an American is part of the Royal Family and her children are 6th and 7th in line.. sit on it and spin..

(24,291 posts)but you know, it was her fighting with the men in gray suits as she used to call them, that sort of freed her up to be that crusading spirit that would look for landmines or hold the hands of AIDS patients in a time when people were terrified of being in the same room with someone diagnosed and the diagnosis was usually fatal.. she was a powerhouse.. that is for sure

(12,380 posts)I wasn't born yet and my parents were a bit too young to remember all of it. But as I'm in England, my UK friends wondered when the last time anything remotely similar happened. I guessed JFK, but didn't know how long the coverage lasted. Thanks for this.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
