" Bend the Arc is bringing the power of our community to this years crucial Senate races. First up: two phonebanks for Sen. Rev. Raphael Warnock with the New Georgia Project!
Sen. Rev. Raphael Warnock is a man of faith and action who has made his lifes work a response to systemic racism, including leading the congregation at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.s church in Atlanta..
His opponent, Herschel Walker, is a former football player with no political experience. Hes been endorsed by Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, Mitch McConnell, Lindsey Graham, and Josh Hawley all of whom have attacked marginalized and working-class communities and the very foundations of our democracy to gain power.
The choice is clear. Help elect the leaders we need now by phonebanking for Sen. Warnock:
Phonebank: Thursday, September 22 at 5:15pm ET / 2:15pm PT."

There are three reasons for my posting this. First, I think it is important for every member of the Democratic Party to have a linkage with at least one grass roots group that works for social-political justice. Second, I find Bend the Arc to be an extremely important example of such a grass roots organization. And third, I know it is essential that Senator Warnock wins the November election.
Thank you for you attention.

(73,528 posts)If we could get ten DUers to join in making calls, it'd be a good start. But if we could get one hundred, it would be a show of DU's power. And if we got one thousand? Arlo would call that a movement!

We do not want Zippy the Pinhead's violent brother in the U.S. Senate.

(13,952 posts)Every poll Ive seen has Warnock up by 3-5 points. Not a lot but still better than being behind.

Of course, it pains me to no end that this race is even close. Even if Walker wasn't apparently the victim of Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE)*, he brings nothing to the table other than once being a decent football player.
*I say this not to mock him; I honestly believe he has brain trauma, and it is exceedingly cruel that the Republicans are putting him through this. Then again, the Republicans have "exceedingly cruel" trademarked.

(73,528 posts)with my cousin. He asked how anyone could support Walker? I said there are three reason: they can control him, they want to destroy the Senate, and/or they, too, are brain=dead.
I'll note that besides football, Walker took head punishment at about the age of 45, when he competed in MMA. I think that added to the damage.
