What to make of expatriot millionaires?
MAGA violence' and 'domestic terrorism' are driving 'dual citizenships' among America's wealthy: report
"...... Mechanic, in an article published by Mother Jones on September 21, reports that the United States’ “societal dysfunction has progressed to the point where many well-heeled Americans are looking for an escape hatch.” https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2022/09/trumpism-maga-midterms-elections-2022-2024-wealthy-americans-dual-citizenship-escape-expatriation/ https://www.alternet.org/2022/09/maga-violence-and-domestic-terrorism/

1. They didn't get to be rich by cleaning up their own messes
Now that the fascist tendencies underlying their never-sated hunger for more and more wealth have become apparent, they're eying the exits and planning their getaways.

2. I wouldn't worry about it too much...
A Forbes study in 2020 showed MORE billionaires supported Biden than Trump in the 2020 Election.

6. thanks for this.
This could easily be spun to " (greedy) billionaires flee Biden tax hikes".

7. indeed.
"expatriot
noun Common misspelling of expatriate." Seems to me there is a place for "expatriot". Like every last MAGAt. |

4. Unless they pay taxes, 'Expat Millionaires' are Liberatarian assholes for the most part.
Sucking money from the workforce and taxpayers while claiming they made money through 'hard work'. Hard work playing with other people's money and other people's brains and sweat.
They, themselves, tend to provide very little to the US economy. I know a couple dozen millionaires who pay taxes, bills, and try to do right by their employees and products. They may go on a European Vacation on occasion, or send money overseas to relatives, but they contribute to the GDP. Just to be clear, I'm not talking about retired Expats who saved up enough to live abroad in a country more amenable to Americans like Costa Rica or with foreign relatives. I'm talking about very wealthy Expats who offshore their businesses and live abroad, while still claiming the rights and privileges of US citizens. Haele |

5. They can only run so far
The vast majority aren’t rich enough to leave the planet, and their wealth will only protect them up to a point.

8. Covering their bases because they can afford to.
The Mitch's SCOTUS has done irreparable harm at a time we have little space for more harm.
