I can declassify anything I want is a foolish, ridiculous, childlike, defense.
Trump failed big time in his quest to delay the investigation. The special master, like I predicted will finish his review quickly. It is now full steam ahead for the secret document investigation. Trump knows he is going to be indicted.
Trump is not being investigated for stealing White House silverware, note pads. He stole our biggest secrets and lied to a Federal Grand Jury about stealing top secrets. He put our entire national security at risk. That is as serious as it gets. The DOJ is going to nail his ass to a wall.
Trumps luck has run out. The American people, who suffer from great apathy, better prepare themselves for what's coming their way. There are going to be trials, a lot of them. Trump is going to be indicted. Things are going to get intense and that's the way it should be.

(9,670 posts)I liken all of Trump's court filings to Dick Dastardly strewing thumbtacks on the race track in Wacky Racers. Just a nasty way to slow everything down, but no great challenge to Lady Justice.
Some of his coupmates might buy his "I am President, I am Invincible " bullshit, but surely many will begrudgingly see right through it. If they don't, tough shit. Buck up, little snowflakes.

(2,057 posts)That'd be devastating to the R's, completely taking the wind out of their sails, except for the Maga die-hards. But apparently the wheels of justice grind slowly, or so I've read somewhere, and this seems like a really crucial piece of timing. Fingers crossed!

I had the thought that if it was done before election day it might suppress democratic turnout, because some of our voters might think that the enditement was the win.

(44 posts)My favorite part comes at around 1:22 into the second interview when Trump mentions that the FBI may have been looking for "the Hillary Clinton e-mails," and Hannity actually says "you're not saying you have it." I LOVE IT --for a moment Hannity actually believed that Trump was saying he had had them! Yes, Hannity not only did Trump find Hillary's e-mails but also located the exact location of Santa's workshop in the Northpole and the hole the Easter Bunny lives in, which is most likely, the one on his backside.

Letting people like bundy and nixon get away with crime is why we are in this distasteful position.
Bailing out the banks and insurance companies because of their crimes was also a mistake. It is past time for people to pay for their crimes.

(1,523 posts)Ms. Lindsey Graham said there would be violence in the streets if Trump is indicted!!!!!
I live in a red, rural VA county surrounded by heavily-armed Trumphumpers. Hell, one of our local businessmen rented a 42-passenger bus and went to the Jan 6 riot -- three of his passengers are now in jail, two others are awaiting trial (the others were smart enough to get on the bus and come back home). Should I stock up on AR-15, shotgun, rifle, and pistol ammo?

Someday it will come out that Chump & Kushner (the bagman) either gave or sold those secrets to someone. But meanwhile he will go on trial soon and we don't have that proof yet. All we know is that Chump left the White House on Jan. 20, 2021 with those documents illegally in his possession.
It became general knowledge almost a year later that Chump took those top secret documents and didn't return them. After lies and denials, he finally did return some of them, the FBI came and got more, and we now know that some documents are still mysteriously missing. Now the lies and bullshit excuses are knee-deep and growing.
To me the best evidence is to follow the path of Jared Kushner in December 2020 and early January 2021, as Chump's term was ending. That was his last chance to grift, and he made multiple trips to the Middle East. Saudi Arabia was the main focus and he returned from Saudi a multi-billionaire. Hmmmm ....

(16,723 posts)serious. I hope Archives and DOJ know if all the empty files and perhaps others nobody knows about? can be accounted for. I tend to think many were sold, given, copied and distributed or squirreled away in other locations. FBI should have taken a month and torn MAGAT LAGO down to the wall and floor studs. Don't overlook the overloaded septic/sewer system either. Wouldn't surprise me if there was a "special dry well" system to accept flushed documents. And then there's Bedminster..

I prefer no mask, I want a reasonable close up so I can see the exact frame he gets IT, the look on face: PRICELESS!
I'll want it 4K, I'll freeze the frame and screenshot, I'll sent it to a printer for a 6' by 4' and it's going on a wall!
Besides, feel like dancing!

Dearie also said in his Thursday order that James Orenstein, a former U.S. magistrate judge for the Eastern District of New York, would help him with the review. He said Orenstein has served on the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court and holds top-secret government clearance, which means that he would theoretically be able to review many of the seized classified documents if required.
(Read special master Raymond Dearie's Sept. 22 order PDF)
Orenstein is most known for a 2015 case in which he determined that prosecutors did not have the legal authority to force Apple to help investigators bypass the passcode feature on a drug dealers iPhone.
Dearie said he expects to use court staff from the Eastern District of New York to help him with his special master duties.
