DeathSentence has the equivalent of a Christie bridgegate problem.
And thats why that second flight was cancelled.

(268,976 posts)People died because of Bridgegate and peoplealso went to prison. It was also the end of Christie's ambitions.
I agree - this is even worse

(9,982 posts)It seems that all Republican voters want today is crooks and liars to represent them. Says a lot about Republican voters.

(187 posts)They get elected and reelected on the strength of their criminality. Remember Greg Gianforte? He has gone a long way in GQP politics after body-slamming and beating up that UK journalist from The Guardian. This seems to be the way of things with rethuglicans.

(52,208 posts)Only that kidnapping is worse. It's a direct and obvious human rights violation.

(2,787 posts)although it only came out the day after, that one female refugee reportedly committed suicide that night.
I've not seen anything about it since. I've seen nothing backing up the report, nor have I seen anything denying it. This makes me even doubly sad. If she DID commit suicide because of all this, she deserves more than to just be forgotten amongst all of de Satan's other crimes in this human smuggling ring.

(19,564 posts)It wasn't going to be a hidden event until the next day like before. People were ready in Texas, Florida and Philadelphia to protest, video and make a massive media scene. That, coupled with the lawsuit which was filed that day, scared the freaking hell out of them and they aborted their plans. That discovery phase is causing a few sleepless nights, I promise you that.
It's all fun and games when you think you're a RW operative acting anonymously. It's an entire different affair when you're risking something like your day to day peace and lifestyle. Then they have skin in the game and it's not fun to exploit innocent people for political gains anymore.

Chris Hayes on Bridgegate and the DeSantis migrant scandal: It was a political stunt that hurt Christie's political aspirations and had real-life consequences for ordinary people. And that sounds awfully similar to another political stunt pulled recently by another Republican governor with his eye on the White House. - Aired on 09/22/2022.

(25,969 posts)Hayes asked good questions: who is Perla? Who was the recruiter who took the immigrants to the La Quinta Inn and abandoned them there? Who organized this? Regardless of cancellation, someone planned the stunt, someone enticed people to go, someone loaded them into a van, drove them to a hotel, and checked them in. These people need to be found and questioned.

(205,317 posts)We need to know who was responsible and the need to face legal consequences. And not just those who executed the plans, but those responsible for the planning - same as January 6th!

(4,391 posts)Old Florida: LeRoy Collins, hardly a progressive, killed his chances of reelection as governor by offering to mediate at Selma and ending up with a picture of him and MLK in the papers. If White Florida is convinced that DeSantis is on their side, he wins and this comes off helping him. White Florida Men love when their politicians get the white on. Look at George Smathers, one of the senators in the 60s. Voted against the Civil Rights Act of 1964, worked behind the scenes to get it passed.
New Florida: DeSantis loses key support in the Venezuelan and Cuban communities with the stunt, and it might be just that 0.1% pushing Crist past him.
I think the first answer is where they're at, would love to be proven wrong.
