You have to be a complete IDIOT to still support this conman and the longer this goes the more stupid they look.

(337 posts)In their minds this is all a political witch hunt that was perpetrated by the Dems because they hate Trump. They truly believe the election was stolen and the Dems just want Trump out of the picture. This is what being in a cult does.

You are seriously underestimating their intelligence. These people are in a cult. They absolutely believe everything he says. I live around them and hear them every day

(15,424 posts)Yes, it's a cult.
But, it's a cult of hatred of the evil liberal.
45 just hijacked it.
They love him because he overtly did what traditional pols mealy mouthed about.
Sure, they have the "stupid" voters who believe the bs.
But most of them full well know what is going on and are full on board w it because it's getting over on the libs.

(69,364 posts)I can't be certain that every Trump voter is racist, but his racism wasn't a deal-breaker for them. Nor was his mocking a disabled journalist, mocking families who lost their children in war, sexually assaulting women and bragging about it, etc.
Trump represents the opposite of all those so-called "family values" the Republicans have been yapping about all my life.

(39,152 posts)parking lot yesterday all decked out with a "LET'S GO, BRANDON!" tire cover and one of those "F*CK BIDEN AND ANY DEMOCRAT WHO VOTED FOR HIM blah blah blah" flags waving on the back. The parking lot is right next to the station where I get gas and the reactions were great. Some flipped off the Jeep, some just shook their heads. It was clear that it was an unpopular opinion because of the dozen or so folks I saw walk by it, none of them agreed. I didn't stay long enough to see the actual traitor. At least he's stupid enough to out himself.

(5,232 posts)The sunk cost fallacy describes a tendency to follow through on endeavors where time, money, or effort has already been invested.
The sunk cost fallacy is also related to commitment bias, or a tendency to remain committed to past behaviors despite those behaviors having undesirable outcomes. By failing to understand that the resources expended will never be recovered, the individual makes decisions based on past costs and not on more rational future costs and benefits.
Lastly, sunk cost fallacy may have some relationship with loss aversion. This is a cognitive bias suggesting that the pain of losing something is more powerful than the pleasure of gaining something. As a result, people are more likely to avoid losses than seek out gains. In the context of the sunk cost fallacy, the individual equates a loss with not following through on their decision.

(11,878 posts)Since most Trump voters only get their news from Fox or other right wing sources, they dont really know the extent of what Trump has done.
If and when Rupert realizes that Trump is doing more harm than good to what Rupert wants, Fox and others will start telling their followers to turn on Trump.

And the result will be, their super rich companies will no longer be secure nor will they be worth anything close to what they were because the US dollar will have tanked along with Wall street. And they'll be asking themselves, as they fear for the well being of their families, "were these absurd tax breaks really worth this?"

BUT I had 5 minutes of Fox News inflicted on me over a year ago and I still remember how repulsed I felt. Nobody would watch that dreck unless they already agreed with it. That's the problem.

(441 posts)And they don't see it, especially of they are focused on single issues like abortion. The people of color will be the first to be victimized. Who complains about immigrants from the Eastern Block, not near as many people. I think that is because they look like "us". People of color are easier to hate on because their color stands out, the same with LBGTQ community. If Desantis and Abbot shipped Russian immigrants to Martha Vineyard it would not have had the same visual impact to the Rethugs.

(96,882 posts)They were a religious sect who believed the Rapture was going to occur in the mid 19th Century. Many of them sold their homes, gave away their goods, and gathered on hilltops in their Sunday finest waiting to be whisked off to Heaven. When nothing happened they either stuck to their beliefs and rationalized new dates, or joined a slightly different church, but never lost their underlying beliefs.
