We scratch our heads and wonder how they could be so stupid?
How they could follow such a sick and immoral person as they do?
Why they don't just jump off the crazy wagon?
They have nowhere else to go. They stand for nothing. If they lose their Leader, they are lost in the wilderness.
So, they lie to their voters. They lie to the country. They lie to themselves.
They want everyone else to go under with them.
Are we supposed to have compassion?

(1,789 posts)The original intention was to create a mindless voting bloc that would leave the GOP establishment to their own devices. "You vote out Democrats, we'll handle cutting rich people's taxes ourselves." That scenario was bad enough, but with Trump the barriers of laws, norms and scientific reality were removed. What Trump did was to reverse engineer a presidency from the minds of the mindless mob. My analogy for Trump being president is like the drunken football fan in the bleachers saying "we should run the ball more", and the crowd agrees and makes him the starting quarterback. Now we have a situation where the truth bounces off of their heads like a BB hitting a bowling ball, a direct consequence of Trump's inability to handle adverse truth.
Truth tellers of all stripes, journalists, doctors and non-partisan inspectors general are all "in on it". We are dealing with people who don't believe the media because of something they heard on part of the media. To your question about compassion, the limit of mine is to feel sorry for them.

(5,128 posts)I am tired of all the excuses. These hateful assholes have wreaked havoc on the rest of us.
We are told that we are supposed to understand them. From the bullshit forgotten man narrative, to HRC being forced to apologize for calling them what they truly are, deplorable, media chastising elite democrats for making fun of their asinine beliefs- which have consequences for the rest of us.
See the takedown of Roe v Wade, banning of books, decreased voting rights. Nope, no one should ever dare fix their mouth to ask me to have compassion for these folks that would destroy me if they have their way.
Its like asking an abused wife to have compassion for abusive husband. Its sick.

They need to be exiled and punished for their transgressions.

(9,912 posts)Ask how, in the past, one could have prevented nazis from taking over Germany, or other examples. As individuals we can GOTV and push them into a small corner (despite the media glorifying their attention-getting feedback loop)
Do what we can. The solution is WINNING.

Personal opinion: the media are attention whores, and thrive from attention-getters. I call the root cause advertising. When I get recipes over the internet, my recipe app does not block ads, and the result is shocking. I *never* see ads, and this is insane to me. Cannot read the recipes, but the app filters out all extraneous matter. For a short time, I see them all.
All it takes is one extension to the browser. If everyone did this (dream on) the entire advertising and "surveillance capitalism" and "attention whoredom" industry would fall.
CULTivation of billions in "beat you upside the head" ads is also a CULT.
