One of my siblings told me she saw the above front page lead headline in the National Enquirer when she was in the check out lane at her supermarket yesterday. She could not believe her eyes given the Slobfathers relationship, with Pecker.
Can one of our experts post it for me

(13,480 posts)Im sure the grand jury knows a lot more than we do, but I doubt real nuclear codes were found at MAL. The MAGA cult is far more likely to see and believe the National Enquirer than any mainstream media.

(26,016 posts)Republicans are done with Trump and want to throw him under the bus while they gather around DeSantis. The National Enquirer backed Agent Orange in 2016.

(54,409 posts)https://www.inputmag.com/culture/wikipedia-high-five-too-slow-photos-mystery-couple-solved
One reason I love the Wikipedia article for high five is that its one of those entries about an utterly basic aspect of everyday life that reads like it was written by a group of aliens observing human beings: Its meaning varies with the context of use but can include as a greeting, congratulations, or celebration. But the high-five Wikipedia page is among my very favorites not because of its writing, but because of its iconic photos specifically the ones in the section on the too slow variation:

I love the aughts fashion, the use of the word victim, and the fact that finger-guns gets a hyperlink in the last caption. The woman in the photo gives an Oscar-worthy performance in the final image she looks like shes on the verge of tears and her male counterpart couldnt look more smug. The pictures are endearing and capture a kind of humanity you dont find in your average stock photo.
The sequence was uploaded on August 14, 2008 by Bgubitz, a user who describes themself as an accountant who likes sunsets and long walks on the beach. Today, photos from the too slow series are featured on Wikipedia pages in eight languages and get more than 200,000 annual views.
A quick search of high five wikipedia photo shows that the images are an object of fascination for many others besides me. People around the world have noted that the pair looks a lot like Rachel and Chandler from Friends. But not everyone is a fan. In 2020, one particularly passionate Wikipedia user named Kugihot suggested the photos be removed because they were simply a waste of precious Wikipedia public bytes.

(115,407 posts)...because of the nature of their secrecy. They could not show the documents to the jury. I don't know about that. But, I don't see how that would prevent an obstruction charge for lying about the possession of the documents?

(17,802 posts)The doj will prepare a proxy summary for each document. It won't be classified but will describe in general terms the sensitivity and nature of the material.
Courts have accepted this process for decades.
That's what I read anyway.
no jury, just a judge. A lot of trials are like that. This is civil, also, which I'm sure you are aware of but I'll point it out just for the record.
What I don't know is if the right to a jury trial applies in civil court. I don't think it does.

(9,010 posts)The Enquirer allegedly used a tactic known as "catch-and-kill" when a publication buys the rights to a damaging story for the purpose of sitting on it and keeping that story out of the news.
The Associated Press reported Friday that the magazine even had a location where records of these payments were stored: a safe full of documents, not only relating to Trump, but similar "catch-and-kill" deals with other celebrities.

Just out of curiosity, I just checked the Vegas odds of Trump being indicted this year:

In full disclosure, I remember the day before the election, Vegas had Hillary Clinton as a strong favorite.

If you meant for the MAGA crowd thinking the NE is the voice of authority, then say that.
jaxexpat
(7,794 posts)electoral victory as a conspiratorial rip-off perpetrated by the victors and (credible?) threats of armed combat at November's polls, "certainty" has taken on a new inference. The oddness of the NE presenting an incongruous POV (vis-a-vis its previous alliances) seem right in line with the oddities which we have come to accept as normal.
You'll recall how general Cornwallis had his band play "World Turned Upside Down" to mark his surrender to the colonial army at Yorktown. It is now considered a profound statement against the absurdity it must have seemed to those then present. I consider the idea of the NE actually foretelling, in a very out-of-character moment, an actual potential fact falls along that same line.
Thus, my allusion that the town's most famous liar portends a profound truth is so unusual and out-of-place that I'm not absolutely sure what to make of it. As can no one until the events actually unfold in time. So many points.
"If you meant for the MAGA crowd thinking the NE is the voice of authority, then say that." That concept never even entered my mind.
I initially found your response to my post condescending, one of the worst insults one may hurl. Your response to my second was just bossy. That's why my response..... Hostile or appropriate? In any case, no worries. Détente?

(43,165 posts)I came back to this post to apologize for sounding abrupt. While I was out doing my job, which required driving around, I thought about it and decided it sounded like that. No excuses for being so abrupt and quite likely "rude."
If you want to call it "condescending," it might be. I'll have to think on that.
I'll also have to think a bit more on what you wrote in this post, which further explains what you were saying.
